I have v heavy periods & occasionally leak. Wondered if they were worth the expense.

My friend swears by Thinx. I'm very tempted.

Going by the illustrations on the box, you'd think you bought underwear that only Mr Bean would wear! Grin

Ha Whatthequack I know! I love the one with hairy legs.

They're great illustrations ... it's just that they're not very ... glamorous or dignified or sultry or feminine.

I was hoping more for something descreet in plain black wrapping or box, with a hint of fushia perhaps (or red!) Grin

anyway, I've tried them on now and they're good. I got the sport shorts (so high leg hipsters) in a Medium which fit nicely. I've got a 28" waist and 37" hips if this helps anyone. It looks like they have a pad of double/absorbable material from the top of your pubic bone all the way under to the top of your arse cleft (sorry). The rest is thin.

I'll report back when I've tested them in another couple of weeks!

any more feedback or comments?

Goprogo · 14/04/2017 18:04

I keep getting Thinx pop up ads on my Facebook and am intrigued too - anyone else had any experience of them?

The 2nd clicky link (DiaryDolll) has a Security Message coming up.

Deathraystare · 15/04/2017 09:12

Cheezywheezy - that is interesting. I was suckered into buying some incontinence knickers that were supposed to be like normal knickers. They were. So much infact that they did not work as incontinence knickers at all!

HemiDemiSemiquaver · 15/04/2017 09:35

yes I'm getting loads of facebook ads for them at the moment too.

In some ways they sound good, but I can't really see how they'd ever replace your normal protection. They say they hold as much as a tampon or towel does. But surely if you change your tampon four or five times a day, then you'd have to change your knickers that often too?!

And if they're just for leaks, well, a pant liner can do that well enough really, or normal knickers that have to be changed anyway for a small leak. I guess maybe on the heaviest days they might help as protection against leaks. But not as a replacement for wearing anything.

I bought four pairs of Thinx about two years ago, what were then their most absorbent styles (I think things may have moved on a little since then). I think I bought them during the halcyon days of light periods just before the perimenopausal lightning struck. They failed within an hour.

The material is quite robust and leak-resistant but there is nothing to stop the blood from wicking round the side of the gusset, so I ended up with bloody patches about an inch either side of my trouser inseam.

They're also a little clammy, so if you have sensitive skin they may irritate it.

I now use reusable cotton pads, which I love, although the lack of plastic means that the wings are just as absorbant as the pad so blood can wick around them onto your thighs and trousers.

Did anyone who bought the Thinx have to pay import taxes? Just about to buy some and there's a warning message on the shipping page, don't want to end up forking out an extra £30 just to get them past customs!

MadMaryBoddington · 01/05/2018 10:29

I didn’t pay anything extra, no.
