The lingering stench of dove gradual tan moisturiser

I put it on last night, had a shower about 2 hours later, then had another shower this morning where I scrubbed with a shower puff thing, and I can still smell the horrible fake tan smell! I think that fake tan does smell exceptionally horrible on me for some reason, but surely 2 showers should shift it?! Am I doing something wrong or what?

I used Dove last year and wasn't bothered particularly by the smell but found tan was really streaky. I have the Garnier summer body one this year. Quite like the smell (can still smell it now after applying this morning!) but is just as streaky as the Dove one - unless I'm doing something very, very wrong
