Barcelona holiday - what to wear??

Going on holiday in July to Barcelona, it will be quite hot, have never been before and am not sure what clothes to pack. I don't wear shorts/skirts and running around with two toddlers in a maxi dress may not be the best idea. Would jeans be too warm? Or should I try harem type trousers? What do you wear on flights??

Thank you leedy we'll book online too to save time. The paddling area looks lovely as well! Another place that wasn't on our list to see before.

If you do go to Torre de les Aïgues, there is a little knick-knacky pound shop type place just across the road from the entrance to the courtyard that sells very cheap water squirters - my two were deeply envious of the other kids' until I figured out where they got them. :)

I'll agree - been to Barcelona quite a lot not every had a problem with pick pockets.
Rome however....

Agree with what everyone has already said, it'll be hot and I bet you'll be dashing into H&M for shorts and/or knee length skirts :) It's a very relaxed city dresswise, more so than other Spanish cities I've visited.

I've been lots for work and fun and never been pickpocketed either, it's really no worse than London IMO. Your kids will love Parc Guell and the Rambla. The Botanical Gardens are fun too but arm yourselves with good anti-mosquito protection, I got devoured there. Have fun!

When I went in July it was 35 degrees

The fountain is fab. Your kids will love it.
Also the food market is worth a trip on La Ramblas.
We went for breakfast a few times.

Barcelona is fantastic with children. Aquarium, beach and park by the zoo (Citadella?) were our favourites but there are lovely little play areas all over the place. Need to go again!

I ordered a bunch of trousers from next to try, jersey harems, linen trousers and printed tapered trousers. The loose linen ones are the most confortable and look good wheb worn. Harems look like pyjama bottoms on me even though I'm a size 10 they don't look right and feel like a looser version of leggings. The printed tapered ones are better on than harems so may keep those and return the harems.

I'm like you with harems, I tried a pair on the other day for the first time and looked like an overgrown baby in leggings! I'm a 12 so not huge. Guess I'm just the wrong shape.

Hareems and other lightweight patterned trousers are great. Try New Look they always have a selection.

yazzy85 · 05/06/2015 19:44

I think its the jersey material I need to avoid, good to hear it isn't just me having the same problem with hareems. Will check out New Look too, thanks.

Cosmo Caxia is a science / natural history museum and is fantastic for children. They have an amazon rainforest exhibition which is just amazing, we spent ages here when DS was 2 last year

Knee length dresses and skirts with t shirts is what I would wear with sensible sandals.
