NIKE Roshe Run or Air Max?

For walking. Which one is more comfortable?

My airmax are the most comfortable trainers I've ever had. Like walking on a cushion. Far more comfortable than my new balance. Have never worn the roshe run though.

Is it specifically the Nikes that you like, or would you be interested in some far better running shoes for a similar price?

Not sure if you want the Nikes because you think they're trendy or if you think they're a good shoe, IYSWIM.

I mean, I know a lot about running shoes, and I know a fair bit about walking shoes, and you could get decent kit for the price of those Nikes.
But if it's that you like the look of them rather than how good they are, then obviously I'm missing the point.

If you are doing serious walking it would be worthwhile looking into actual walking shoes as Running suggests. I assumed you just meant as day to day running errands type wear which is what I wear my airmax for.

Sorry to hijack but I'd love some recs on a good walking / running shoe

Nike Roches are very lightweight, the sole is supportive to a point but they were designed as a fashion trainer more than for serious exercise. Walking round town type of thing. The uppers are a thin stretchy mesh type fabric so your foot won't have any upper support. My trainer mad partner buys them for his summer trainers for holidays.
Air Max are a lot sturdier and very comfortable.

As PP said though, it depends on what you mean by walking. Round towns, distances of a few miles, both would probably be fine. Serious country or hill walking, then neither, and you could get a lot better.

The specialist sports shops near me don't stock Nikes because the heavy cushioning actually changes your gait and can cause problems longterm, also whilst heavily cushioned they don't actually support your foot. I'd agree that a specialist walking show would be better in the longterm

I love my Air Max

For walking, I think Merrell are the best. My Merrell walking boots have lasted years, on some pretty hard-core terrain.
These shoes aren't a million miles from the Nikes in terms of style, but are worlds apart in quality:www.merrell.com/UK/en_GB/all-out-shine/17254W.html?dwvar_17254W_color=J21646#cgid=womens-footwear-shoes&start=1

And for running, after sampling pretty much everything out there, I'll never run in anything other than Brooks again.

These are my current absolute favourites - a supportive shoe for overpronators, but really light and not built up too much:

What Sunshine said - most "proper" running shops won't even stock Nikes. That says something!

AmelieinOz · 31/05/2015 11:02

For walking around town. Asked about Airmax or Roshe Run because Nike store will be having a sale. Open for suggestions re: other brands though!

I bought air Max because I wanted to start running/walking more. DH is seriously into running and has all manor of random but specialist names in footwear. But I wanted something that was actually quite trendy, something that I could still wear around town if I failed to do any actual running.

I'm actually doing okay and managed to run shuffle 5k this week. The trainers are fine for the amount of use they get and are also comfortable for long walks on pavements. If by some miracle, I take up running seriously, if probably move to a specialist shoe. But for me, Nikes are fine.

As a comparison to roshe, the air max have a much narrower fit but the Roshe are slightly lighter. I would go and try them on and see which is more comfortable.

louloubelle2 · 31/05/2015 11:11

Going into summer (if it ever appears ) I'd go for the Roche Runs. They are lightweight and the uppers are breathable. But for anything more than running round town for a couple of hours I'd go for something sturdier.

Buy some Air Max's in the end of summer sale to take you into autumn.
