Short hair for a tall woman

Help please S&B people!

I am a tall woman who has always had longish hair. Unfortunately, since turning 50 it has started breaking to the extent that it looks really thin and crappy. I have finally faced the fact that I need to cut it above the shoulder at least.

The trouble is I am afraid of looking "mannish". I am 5 ft 11 and solidly built (size 16 - 18), I also have a big head and strong features - so I feel that I am losing my femininity with my hair IYSWIM. Can anyone suggest a feminine hairstyle that might work or anything else on the style and beauty front that might make me feel a bit more womanly?
(No girly pink frills though!)

Thank you

5'10'' size 18-20 and I have similar to this style but mine is a light brown with a few highlights to cover the grey.

I don't have her bone structure though!

I also think neck length is important.

MaryFlynn Good luck with your hairdresser appointment today. I really liked your second link to style no. 48. I think that with a colour that adds shine and goes with your skintone will look really good. Let us know how you get on!

Thanks Chin. Yes, I thought no 48 looked ok. It also looks like it would grow out quite well IYKWIM.

Oh dear. I hate it.

It is a perfectly fine haircut and the colour is ok darker as we decided to cut out the peroxide. BUT my hairdresser was shocked by the change in my hair and we had to go quite short. Sad She also said it wasn't just breakage but signs of some hair loss too so I should go to the doctor.
It is fugly. Sad

How long will it take to grow - say 3 inches?

Oh no! What style did you have? No 48? Don't worry, it will grow but it sounds as though it's in really bad shape. So, think about solutions and No 1 on the list is an appointment with the dr. Time to think about your diet, your lifestyle, and whether you are perimenopausal. Don't leave the dr's office until they have suggested something you can actively do - be it getting tested for the perimenopause, or a vitamin supplement to promote healthy hair growth.

In the meantime, look after yourself. Try to get some good rest, and if you're not exercising at the moment, can you start doing something? Are you eating healthily - plenty of fruit and veg?

Don't panic! It's going to be OK because you're going to find out what's going on, and fix it. Have a Wine or Cake or both. In the meantime, Flowers.

Get a thyroid test too. Flowers

Thank you
Love the advice to eat healthily followed by suggestions of wine and cake! That is my kind of advice!

Seriously though, I will book a Dr appointment and try to take care of myself. I have already taken out shares in Holland and Barrett and I am rattling with vitamins, supplements and calcium.

DH has just come home and pretended not to notice - sigh. Confused
