Hair disaster

Hi, I usually dye my hair a red/brown colour but this time I put a medium brown over it and it's gone really really dark! I've phoned hairdresser (toni and guy) and they say they can do a 'cleanse' using a shampoo with bleach in it and then put in lots and lots of highlights, however I'm afraid I'll end up with hair the colour and texture of straw, has anyone ever had this done or are there hairdressers about who could reassure me?
Had hair cut on Saturday and discussed highlights but I've done the dye since then

Try the hair colour remover - colour b4? It works but you must read the instructions very carefully at least twice. I recommend ear plugs when rinsing as you have to rinse for long time and the water gets in your ears.

Some good reviews on Amazon with advice too.

good luck!

Head and shoulders shampoo repeatedly will strip the colour too

starodyssey2015 · 27/05/2015 23:13

Hair dresses know what they're doing l. Trust me. They're not allowed to seriously damage your hair without your permission. Ask them! Colour b4 is good but if your ends are dry it will make them 10X dryer so make sure to deep condition afterwards :)

Please don't strip the colour from your hair. I did this two years ago and am still growing out the damage. I bitterly regret having it done. I was in floods of tears when I looked in the mirror.

Years ago, I had colour stripped at the hairdressers and it was fine. But I had very strong hair that'd never been dyed before.

I tried Head and Shoulders to wash out a colour (henna) and it did nothing!

Will it fade?

AtrociousCircumstance · 27/05/2015 23:20

It will fade in a couple of weeks. Wash every day with your normal shampoo.

Hair colour is usually too dark at first.

I stripped mine using the strong version of colour before and it was pretty damaged afterwards. I bought an expensive pot of keratin hair mask and wore it to bed with a shower cap last week and it's much much better now.

Oh dear I just came back on to have a look at thread while I am sitting at home with colour stripper already on!
Its the Adee Phelan one, I'm so nervous, I did a strand test last night and it came out fine

I was in exactly the same situation. I went to Toni and Guy and they did what they proposed to you. I was very pleased with it. It was lovely for the summer and I kept it like that for a couple of years.

Greggsumner · 30/05/2015 15:39

Well that's it done! It's really stripped the dark out and hair is fantastic condition, it's a light ginger/red colour which I love, except it lighter at the roots a bit, so I'm thinking highlights all over, I don't know why salons don't use this stuff instead of bleach baths, it's amazing!
