My poor hands! So dry and wrinkly looking. Sad most handcreams make my hands feel lovely when I put them on, but within 15 mins, it's as if I'd never bothered.
There must be a fantastic hand cream out there somewhere? One that keeps my skin feeling silky after it's been absorbed?

Clarins is my favourite.

Kaspar19 · 26/05/2015 22:56

Clarins is lovely but not very rich. I also like the caudalie one and Rituals mandarin and mint is good too. If you want something heavier then body shop hand butters are great.

Body Shop Hemp Handcream,

Seems weird, but it transformed my hands so my children weren't embarrassed by the witchiness.

The best one I've ever used is by Dead Sea Minerals. It's fab stuff - you can get it in a gift set with their equally wonderful nail oil. I bought it from one of those stands in the middle of a shopping centre but you can buy it online too.

If they're really bad, get Lotil from Amazon. My dh is a tradesman and has awfully dry, hacked hands. It works wonders. Comes in a big pump dispenser though. Or if you're looking for a smaller one, the Scottish Fine Soap Company do a fantastic sea kelp one.

Aveeno is very good on my hands (dry, very sensitive, and prone to reacting to creams). Absorbs well but gives a good amount of moisture.

AVEENO.

Sinks in immediately.
Very softening.
Oat based.
No smell.
Inexpensive.

FAB Grin

X post OOAOML!

Aveeno is the only cream my ds with lots of eczema can tolerate too.

OOAOML · 26/05/2015 23:33

Absolutely ihave I have eczema flare ups on my hands and Aveeno is brilliant, I use far less steroid cream than I used to.

WellyMummy · 26/05/2015 23:38

I have eczema too. This stuff really works, can't recommend it highly enough! www.natural-skin-care.com/product_info.php?products_id=504%A0osCsid=6m5fjs5kh0blrggctd5pvfk1v5

Clarines, L'Occitane Shea Butter, Crabtree and Evelyn Gardeners cream , Aveeno and Nivea.

I am also, partial to every now and again using hand scrub eg Gardeners one and a Joules one that I got or Christmas. I have very dry skin and if I go more than a day without moisturising I get very badly cracked skin.

Bee Lovely by Neals Yard.

Aveeno hand cream is very good. The tiny tubes of M&S cream that they sell at the checkout are great for keeping in your pocket etc. currently I have Soap & Glory, which I do like, but it's very strongly scented. Also tried 8 hour hand cream, which I'm far too stingy to buy, but was very good ( have always thought 8 hr cream was overhyped, so was pleasantly surprised).

Just coming back to this; are there any treatments for hands that you can have at a salon? I'm sure I read somewhere about paraffin treatment which leaves them soft. Must Google!

I love L'occitane but if my hands are really dry (in winter especially) I swap my hand wash for aqueous cream as recommended by the GP.
