I'm considering it but it's such a lot of money! Is it worth it?

The Compact has slowed down growth on my legs and upper lip after 6 uses. Hasn't worked on my underarms yet though so will need to shave on holiday every day...

Zorion · 25/05/2015 21:19

Can anybody help with a Lumea question? I did my gridlines with a black eyeliner pencil not a white and now I've got grid line burns all over my legs. A good look it is NOT. Any idea how long it will take to heal as its getting hotter and my legs want to get out more...

poppym12 · 26/05/2015 09:48

i've been using the compact for a few weeks. after the first 3 or 4 times i thought the hair felt finer but not so sure now. i was undecided as to whether it would work well on my hair colour/skin tone combination but i'll keep plodding on.

SetTheWorldOnFire · 26/05/2015 10:04

I'm really impressed with mine, I saw the thread on here a while ago and thought it sounded worth a try.

I have ideal colouring for the lumea, pale skin and dark hair. I've used it on the maximum setting from the start, it's not painful (compared to epilating it's nothing), but you can feel a bit of heat sometimes, particularly round freckles.

I've not been hugely consistent using it and have done some areas more frequently than other, but overall I can go nearly a week without shaving my legs (apart from the odd missed stripe) and have hardly had any ingrown hairs.

It's a bit hard to see the effects to begin with, but worth persisting. I didn't realise how much slower the hair growth had gogot, until I noticed how hairy my tattoo is in comparison to the rest of my legs!

AtomicDog · 26/05/2015 10:10

Can it not be used on tattoos then? What does it use? Electric zapping, UV light?

Stubbed · 26/05/2015 10:14

I'm super hairy, dark hair, light skin, with my bikini line all the way down to my knees more or less. I can honestly say the lumea has changed my life.

I don't use it on my legs as it's quite time consuming but underarms, bikini, chin and upper lip. Takes about 5 minutes per fortnight.

No ingrown hairs or rash. It's amazing.

The other item which changed my life was a moon cup. Also recommended.

Zorion · 26/05/2015 10:18

Noooo do not use it on a tattoo! Or a dark eyeliner. I have been dim and done both without reading the instructions first.

OOAOML · 26/05/2015 11:25

Just ordered the Smoothskin - collecting it tomorrow!

barbidou · 26/05/2015 12:58

I love my Lumea! Another pale skin/dark hair combo here.

I have been doing it weekly (it recommends two weekly but I haven't seen any adverse effects and feel like it is doing something) - probably since end of March / early April.

It has made an enormous difference - after shaving and using the Lumea, my legs stay smooth for so much longer (would be stubbly after barely 24 hours before). Some areas have no hair growing at all, other areas are a bit more stubborn e.g. around my knees and backs of my thighs - probably because it's harder to access those areas.

Moving on to armpits and bikini line now - both of which I find a bit ouch-y.

SetTheWorldOnFire · 26/05/2015 22:54

AtomicDog It's IPL (intensive pulsed light?) like a laser, but not quite as powerful, as far as I understand it. Anything dark absorbs more light, so hairs and any dark bits like tattoos or moles, heat up a lot, pale skin doesn't at all. The theory goes the hairs get hot enough to damage the follicle semi-permanently, skin is left undamaged.

BehindEveryCloud · 27/05/2015 19:18

This thread popped up on my emails and I am easy intrigued... I may have found what I never knew I was missing. I'm fair and dark haired - hair removal feels like the bane
of my life and I'm generally too lazy for daily shaving.

A quick google search brought me this article: www.homebeautyproducts.co.uk/ipl-hair-removal/compare-ipl-hair-removal-systems/

Anyone compared Phillips to Braun or Tria? Or is Phillips the "main" one that people tend to recommend?

kittykat17 · 27/05/2015 21:11

Has anyone used this who has blond facial hairs? Did it work?

WanderingAboutRandomly · 27/05/2015 22:10

I don't think it works on blond hair.

VivaLeBeaver · 28/05/2015 09:45

Do people who use it on their top lip shave first?

WanderingAboutRandomly · 28/05/2015 10:21

Yes. I shave then use the lumea. It feels a it odd but it works.

EuphemiaCoxton · 28/05/2015 15:13

I've been zapping every few days for the last month. No difference.
I am ghost pale with black hair

WanderingAboutRandomly · 28/05/2015 17:51

What level are you doing g it at? I do everything at level 5. It does take longer than a month to kick in properly.

EuphemiaCoxton · 28/05/2015 18:07

Level 5. I didn't realise it took that long, I thought the feckers would just get fried out!

babyiwantabump · 28/05/2015 18:45

Your only supposed to do it every 2 weeks!

And your supposed to use white eyeliner because the light is not absorbed! If you use black it will burn as it absorbs the heat and light !

babyiwantabump · 28/05/2015 18:48

Anyway have been using since April and have had fab results - am fair skinned with dark hair.

Have patchy regrowth at best and can go much longer between shaving.

Love it!

holidaysarenice · 28/05/2015 18:59

Has anyone who has had good results got pcos?

Libitina · 28/05/2015 19:23

A few people with PCOS have left reviews on Amazon

BehindEveryCloud · 28/05/2015 20:37

Just realised can't use while breastfeeding Sad

Oh well, back to being spikey legged.

babyiwantabump · 28/05/2015 20:47

I am breastfeeding and have been using it - it's because your skin can be more sensitive so I started off lower then usual just incase
