Acid toners - which one?

I know there's a huge thread but I can't face trawling through it! I have just had a baby (yay me) and so I'm allowed to use all sorts on my face again - it seemed inconclusive about glycolic acid in pregnancy and def no to salycilic, so I am now ready and raring to go.

I am 35 with dry skin and clogged pores. Use Nivea blue pot daily in winter, will soon shift to something lighter but my skin loves the Nivea. I cleanse twice with Elemis Rosepetal cream cleanser and splash it off with warm water. My skin is happy with this, hydrated and lines softened but I def need something to clear and brighten too. I always wear SPF30 or 50 too.

Liquid Gold? Bit pricey for me.

Clarins? Worried just paying for name.

Nip and Fab pads? What are pros and cons of these?

Pixi Glow? Think this might be best.

Generic brands like Bravura?

Anything else I should consider? Thank you skincare gurus! Thanks

I might stick with bravura then
If anyone wants a proper balm, balmology neroli cleanser is AMAZING. If I had the cash that would be my only cleanser forever Envy the smell is gorgeous too

They've recently changed the formula for the Ren one and it no longer contains acid, but bloody pineapple extract! Some places still have old stock though. Check the ingredients label.

U2 haven't you spent enough on the amazing faces thread? Wink

Nip + fab glycolic pads? Any good?

Oh god, goodasitgets that sounds heavenly! Just had a peek at the website and their comfort balm looks good too.

It's just a proper balm, really thick and slippery. Could wear it as a perfume! CH reviewed it

Hi Nabootique. i'm sure you're not wanky Grin. Till recently, I used to have a combination skin, oily/ normal. Now i have normal/ dryish, possibly due to the pill (that's what I was told by someone) or due to cleansing with coconut oil. Even though I'm on the pill I still get spots around the "ovulation' so I use the effeclar face wash and then the micellar water (Boots Botanics).

Also I do get blocked pores on my nose Hmm and have so acne scars from before (nohting major) so I thought the astringent toner would help with the former. Also toying with anidea of using those hoem acid thingys?

Sorry, I'm sure you're glad you asked!

Just said on another thread, for my first foray into acid toner I picked up a 3 euro Olay one in my local drugstore. It was half price but am seriously impressed with it.
Did someone say neroli balm? I bloody luffs neroli.....linky please?

Nabootique · 16/05/2015 07:26

Drink ditch the face wash. You can use the micellar water for make up removal first, but then use something more nourishing like a balm or oil. Do you still use the coconut sometimes? It can sometimes cause spots and blocked pores as it is quite heavy. The Una Brennan vitamin c oil is nice and not expensive.

An acid toner will help with the blocked pores. Generally things marked astringent mean full of skin strippers, so get yourself something more gentle please!
