Diamond pendant

Does anyone wear a diamond pendant day to day? Since having the children I don't really wear necklaces as I was afraid they'd get pulled and broken. But I've a gorgeous diamond solatire ring that I was thinking of getting made into a pendant. Insurance is bonkers (it's a good, decent sized diamond, inherited from a family member) and I'm not sure if it would be safer on my hand or around my neck.

I wear a diamond pendant daily, not a particularly expensive one.

IMHO it's much safer on your hand. I've twice failed to properly do up the clasp. I hate sleeping with a necklace so take it off daily whereas my engagement ring only comes off for lifting weights at the gym when I wear it around my neck.

If you plan to insure it check the conditions - my engagement ring is only covered if worn or in a safe as it has a fairly substantial valuation.

Much safer on your hand.

Ok, thanks, that's what I thought. I have the same insurance clause, I must have it on me or in a safe, but since we don't have a safe, I wear it all the time. Sometimes I just want to wear something else (all my other baubles are cheap and cheerful) but I hate taking the risk. I don't like more than one ring per hand, and I've my engagement /wedding ring combo on the other. Might go shopping for a safe instead...

I wear mine all the time & don't take it off. Mine was made with the diamonds from my nan's engagement ring. I had one diamond made in to a ring & the other a pendant.

Kittykat, do you have your necklace insured? Are there any special conditions on it?

It's not insured as the excess would cost the same if I had to get a new one. I've worn it for 22 years & only taken it off to clean or for medical reasons.
