Help me dress for that Difficult Second Date - please!

Right. Didn't expect to be asking this

Ok, First date, wore brown sweater dress thingy (yes I know, sounds awful, actually quite slinky) with brown suede knee-length boots. Bizarrely, he wants to see me again, this weekend.

We're meeting quite early (around 5-ish) in a painfully trendy area of London and I believe we will be having drinks and dinner (although really I just want to get to the snogging part...)

Do I do the jeans, pumps and funky little top with cool coat bit, or trusty smarter-yet-still-vaguely bohemian dress-and-boots combo (again)? How can I hold my own amongst the haircuts of Hoxton without looking like a complete fool?

What think you, style mavens of Mumsnet?

To be honest if he wants to see you again he wants to see you again. If you look clean, nice, attractive, friendly, a bit sexy, that's all most blokes want I reckon. It helps if you can look confident though and happy in your skin, so maybe you should just concentrate on him rather than the trendy 'types' - you're not on a date with them after all (he's not like them is he? -is he?). I wouldn't re-wear the same outfit, though, I'd go with your first suggestion.

WaitingForGodKnows · 08/11/2006 21:20

Oh, I wasn't suggesting I wear the same thing again! Just the same type of thing, ie something a bit smarter than my usual uniform of jeans.

He's an architect, so quite cool but not in a wanky way. He is lovely and I'm sure he probably wouldn't care (too much) what I wore but I like to get myself worked up about these things...
