Why do some shower creams and soaps have a distinctly sweet vomit like smell off them?

Because I have sensitive skin I splashed out on Jason Coconut Shower Cream. It smells like someone drank coconut milk and then threw it up a few hours later.

I remember a Dove product smelling similar a few years ago.

Does anyone know whether there is an ingredient which causes this (that I can avoid at all costs)? Does anyone else notice this as well?

I know this is a zombie thread but I opened some L’Occitane Crème Jeunesse yesterday and thought ‘wow that smells like wee’. Had to get the kids to sniff to see if I was going to arrive at the office smelling like a pub urinal. They reassured me. So I put some more on today and I’m not imagining it. When I googled this was the thread I found. Somewhere out there another mner has my super acute sense of smell.😀

I love that this is the zombie thread that keeps on giving.
I had some lilies that were past their best and they made my lounge smell like a urinal.
