What short haircut would you love to have but aren't brave enough?

Going to a proper hairdresser tomorrow (as opposed to DIY) and going to have it all chopped off.

Any ideas? Grin

Time of year, to damp for summer clothes to warm for winter so you just sling in whatevers vaguely acceptable to leave the house in Wink

I would love a pixie crop but I do think they look rubbish unless you are STUNNING. And thin.

MyFirstName · 11/05/2015 22:02

I love this. But have curls so could not be arsed to try and create all that...straightness.

Gosh! That's very brave. I bet it's gorgeous.

Can I ask for opinions? I'm 53 and my hair is quite long at the moment purely because I haven't got round to going to the hairdresser for months. It's quite thick, still mostly dark brown (but getting a bit silvery at the temples) and dead straight. I am toying with having it cut very short but I sure as hell don't have a pointy chin and my cheekbones are missing in action not my best feature. Would I go be better advised to go back to the old standby of having a bob?

I should add, I have to have a style I can wash and leave. Styling is just not going to happen.

Should I risk it? I really need a tidy up.

MyFirstName · 12/05/2015 16:12

You do know we must have pictures. Tis the MN law in cases of drastic-hair-changage.

toffeeboffin · 12/05/2015 16:17

StickEm's choice is what I like too.

My hair is naturally blonde but when it starts to go grey that is what I am gonna have. I have a round face though, so not sure if I'll suit it!

HoneyDragon · 12/05/2015 16:21

You could always go for a very razored Bob and wax it?

I had a sort've Anne Hathaway crop done. Loved it.

HelenF350 · 12/05/2015 16:36

stylenews.peoplestylewatch.com/2011/11/02/michelle-williams-marilyn-monroe-short-hair/ I can't say I've not been brave enough to do it though because mine has been cut in a similar style for a while now. Grin

IKnowRight · 12/05/2015 16:41

That's gorgeous :)

I had all my hair cut off on Saturday, went from shoulder/collar bone layered cut with a blunt fringe that always ended up in a pony tail to something similar to Claire236's pic above. I decided to stop dying my hair, let the roots grow for 4-5 months Shock then got the lot chopped off.

Seriously, it's the best thing I've ever done for my looks, I've had so many compliments, some of the almost embarrassingly gushy variety about how good it looks and even though I know have visible grey I've been told that it's taken years off me.

I have a round/oval face (I think! I'm rubbish at figuring that kind of thing out) and I'm not in the slightest bit skinny, but the short shaggy look seems to frame my face well and it all balances out much better than it did before. My hair looks loads thicker and healthier.

I'm so pleased I did it

Good for you OP you look great :)

love it !

it really suits you

HoneyDragon · 12/05/2015 16:51

The colour is Feria Platinum ..... It's good stuff. My natural colour is very dark brown and it lifts it to that shade if you ignore the instructions

It looks lovely. I am not far off 55 with the usual (over) highlighted just past my shoulders hair and am in need of a change! You lot are inspiring me! But around my chin as a big saggy, so I am a bit frightened of a short hair cut!

TheHappinessTrap · 12/05/2015 17:02

You look fabulous op!

TSSDNCOP · 12/05/2015 17:54

Now that's a great hair cut. Mine's similar but a shorter choppier fringe and highlighted. I get asked frequently where I get it cut, people have even photographed it to take to their harpirdresser.

Claire236 · 12/05/2015 19:57

HoneyDragon how do you get a home colour to lighten your hair so much? One of the things putting me off going blonde again is the small fortune spent on hairdressers to maintain it
