Will a babyliss big hair sort my hair out?

I've seen lots of talk on here about the BBH and I'm wondering if it's the miracle tool I'm in need of. My hair is shoulder length, quite fine but a lot of it so it looks thicker than it is. It has a natural wave/curl and if left to dry naturally, turns into one big fluffy, frizzy mess. I never ever blow dry it (too much time and effort and never gets it properly smooth) - I usually just put it in a ponytail or plait after washing and leave it to dry, then use my straighteners on it the next day if I can be bothered. However although it needs straightening to make it look remotely smooth & sleek, it also leaves it looking very flat and it just "hangs there". Will a BBH give me the smoothness of straighteners but with more body? Or is there something else that would be better? How much time and effort does it take? If it's equivalent to straightening, I think I could manage it. Also I've seen there are different sizes of the BBH. Which one would I need for shoulder length hair? If only there was somewhere I could hire some from to try before I buy! Thanks in advance :-)

Your hair sounds like mine. I bought a BBH a few months ago after a thread here and my hair is transformed. Swishy and smooth with a bit of shape and body. Honestly I am so happy with it. Do it! Smile

Oh by the way I got the 42 and it's plenty big enough for me.

Really? Oh that's encouraging - swishy and smooth sounds lovely. I bought the home straightening kit (the Brazilian blow dry thing) after rave reviews on here last year but it didn't have the desired effect on my hair - it was less frizzy than normal but definitely not swishy and smooth without straightening so I was very disappointed. I need something though as my hair is always in a very boring ponytail as I can't do anything with it!

I think the bbh (bigger barrel) would probably do a lovely job but there's time and effort involved the same as blow drying and/or straightening.

It sounds great but is it likely to entangle hair (if used by an imbecile)...? I remember having a steam-brush thing, probably went out of production at the time of steam trains, that I used to curl my bob-ends under before school. It once got tangled while getting hotter and hotter...

It definitely calms down frizz and tames curls, it really seems to alter the texture in a miraculous way.

It shouldn't be too time consuming on shoulder length hair, especially if you only use it for 'finishing off' hair that's partly dry already (air dry or with conventional hairdryer) - which is actually the best way to use it as it's a bit feeble in terms of actually drying wet hair.

WaftingWilberry · 11/05/2015 15:30

Re entangling it has a 'reverse' button which is very useful for detangling

OohMrDarcy · 11/05/2015 15:33

yes - with mine (I have straight hair so may not be relevant) I run some mousse through, blast dry 90% of my hair, then use it like a hair brush to finish - I love it.... and I am really really shit at doing my hair!

I have hair that fits the description of yours. I love my bbh, it means I can wear my hair down as long as it isn't raining.
Mine is collar bone length, maybe a bit shorter and I have the bigger barrelled one. It just means my hair goes wavy rather than curly with it. Like Kate Middleton's.

Thanks all - I think you have convinced me! Actually it's my birthday in a few weeks and dh has been asking what I want so even better, he can get it for me Wink
