Breastfeeding bra, puzzling measurements

Hello,

I used to wear a 36E-F (37 under 44 over). I'm now breastfeeding (a 4 month old) and can't find something with no wires that fits.

I'm now 38 under and 46-47 over (I can't believe it can change that much and I'm a stone lighter than pre-pg!)

I tried:
38G -> mono boob, centre not touching ribcage by a couple of inches and escaping straps, the back felt very very tight
38GG -> still mono boob but closer to ribcage (1inch), better back, escaping straps
38H -> centre not touching ribcage but better than the others, good straps, good back, but cup not full at the top half and no support what so ever.

I tried Anita and Panache. I'm not in the UK so limited choice (Amazon basically).

What do you think is happening?!

Are these wire free bras? If so. ..monoboob and non touching centre goes with the territory I'm afraid

Yes, they are :( apparently wearing wires while breastfeeding will lead to the end of the world. Not sure why? So maybe I'll try a 38G with wires.

I 2nd no wire=mono boob. I ended up in a 38k feeding bra from Royce after being a 38gg before pregnancy.
I didn't care about mono boob. I just wanted to leave the house. Grin

I have been wearing an underwired nursing bra and no end of the world as yet ;) I know what you mean OP, fitter in M&S almost had a fit when I told her I was wearing an underwired nursing bra!

I got some good wired nursing bras off Amazon, a make called Elomi was pretty good (also not in UK). I just ordered a load in different sizes/styles that had free return shipping. Good luck!

helloelo · 11/05/2015 00:25

Thanks! Elomi is Freya for bigger sizes so I should be able to get it. I looked at a Medela one too, will see.

m&s fitters will fit about anything, esp. if you're wearing a correct size :)

I didn't know Elomi was Freya for bigger sizes...you learn something new every day! I am a similar size to you and the Elomi bras have been the best ones for me. I also had a Medela underwired one which was softer and more comfortable at first but the wires started to really dig in under my arm, then they popped through the fabric....

The Elomi bras can look pretty industrious , but no mono boob and good support!

Wired is fine SO LONG AS THEY FIT. The reason wires are risky is basically because an awful lot of people wear bras where the wire is resting on breast tissue. That can cause issues with mastitis/blockages etc. Unfortunately this seems to have turned in to a lazy message of "never wear wires when pregnant or feeding" which is rubbish Grin

Elomi is made by Eveden, as are Freya and Fantasie

Ewa Michalak does good underwired feeding bras. Anita does too but watch the sizing as they skip double letters so you will need a bigger cup than standard (count up through the cups). Alternatively, buy a good well fitting bra and a conversion kit (from ebay) and make your own drop cups.

Don't suppose any uk suppliers suddenly started selling underwired nursing bras in 30/32 GG/H sizes did they? Have converted my own in the past but always hopeful!

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/05/2015 16:08

Ewa michalak ship to UK and have this. Can't recommend their bras enough

Cake do a 32GG

Anita skip double cups, so I think a 32J would be a 32GG roughly.

Freya Pure goes up to a HH and starts at a 30 band been hearing good things about this.

Thelovecats · 11/05/2015 18:27

That is fantastic! I like the look of the Freya pure especially- thank you :)
