Please help me find an alternative to jeans

I have a drawer full of jeans that barely fit, I need to lose the excess lbs so in the meantime I've taken to wearing Sweaty Betty. I need something smart/casual for daytime and very comfortable as I get very bloated due to ibs and hate feeling restricted.

I'm currently a size 14 with an apple stomach but fairly decent legs. Please can someone help!

Chinos .. Patterned trousers .. Joggers ..

Madamecastafiore · 09/05/2015 20:55

I wore hush harem pants after having DD which were smart, stretchy and v v comfortable.

GingerbreadBaubles · 09/05/2015 20:56

Chinos look awful on me, I'm more an inverted triangle so as much as I'd love some chinos they all make me look huge!

What do you wear on your feet with harem pants Madame?

gap ultra skinny pants are lovely nice material and look smarter than jeans and ultra comfy

Uniqlo have some jegging-type trousers that are pull-on and very comfy indeed. Look like jeans, but aren't. And less than £15 per pair, so a good option if you don't want to spend lots whilst losing weight. They also come in cropped versions for summer.

I'd like recommendations for some harems because I bought some harem-style pyjama pants and they are super-comfy. I'd love some that I can wear out of the house.

Madamecastafiore · 09/05/2015 21:04

Elia B loafers or Ash Virgin. Havanas in the hot weather.

You can get cropped Harems which my neighbour wears and looks cool. She wears hers with gladiators.

southeastastra · 09/05/2015 21:11

I think harems are a bit slouchy for day go for something fitted and check your arse in mirror before buying

Has anyone ever tried men's jeans? Why must women's jeans grip the thigh, mine aren't massive but I don't want denim that wears like a second skin!

As for Hush harem trousers.... nearly £50 and they can't be bothered to make them in a size bigger than 18? Don't they know that there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of women who are larger than a size 18? And these are just the kind of trousers that larger women like, as well, that flow over their curves rather than sticking tightly to their legs.

Can someone tell me if the Hush harem pants would be suitable for yoga? How thick are they? I need something that has narrow ankles but is fairly thin fabric.

JudyBlumeRocks · 14/05/2015 12:02

Gingerbread, I hate, hate , hate my tummy feeling restricted, and live in sweaty betty when at home. For work (am an academic so fairly casual) I wear M&S per una roma rise jeggings. I promise you, they are almost as comfy as my trusty sweaty betty. Really stretchy, look like jeans but feel like leggings. I can even manage soft play in them! They come up big though - I'm a 12 and wear an 8 or a 10 in these.
And miranda the hush harems are pretty thick jersey.

FriggFRIGG · 14/05/2015 13:05

How the sizing on the Hush harems? I'm a size 12uk and I can't decide to go for s/m (which claims to be 10-12) or m/l (14-16) .... It says the model is wearing s/m and she looks tiny!

MirandaGoshawk · 14/05/2015 21:28

Ah, thanks Judy

MirandaGoshawk · 14/05/2015 21:30

The sizing on the reviews seems to say that they come up large, but someone says they washed them as directed, in cold water, and now the ankles are tight on them. So Don't Know.

GingerbreadBaubles · 14/05/2015 21:38

Thanks JudyBlume!
