Non-wedding wedding dress?!

I wonder if any S and B gurus can help me... I am looking for a vintage-style (1920s/1930s I think) dress to wear for my wedding later this year. Trouble is I don't actually want a wedding dress! I was hoping to be able to find something knee-length, in a silky material and a colour that isn't white/ivory/cream. I thought at the very least I would be able to Google and find a dressmaker who could make something for me but I am not getting very far. I live in London and our budget isn't huge so I was hoping to be able to spend £500 or less. Do I need to rethink or is what I am looking for out there somewhere?!

Have you looked at Ghost? They do lovely silky vintage type dresses.

A friend of mine had a vintage inspired dress made by wildenbridelondon.com/and said she was wonderful and very reasonable

Thank you both for your suggestions.

CurlsLDN those dresses are absolutely beautiful and exactly the kind of thing I was thinking of, but probably a bit out of my price range.

Pony74, I am looking through Ghost now, some very pretty dresses so I am starting to feel less hopeless!

Contact The Vintage Dressmaker, she specialises in 30s designs.

Or chop down something like this?

Or have a look at puttin on the ritz

Betzi just get in touch, as she's an independent dress maker you may be surprised! In my friends experience she charged a v reasonable amount for her labour, and then they could grow or shrink the budget as they wished depending what fabrics they chose (they went shopping with the dressmaker to choose)
I really wish I'd gone to her for my dress now, but was talked out of it by my mum (who has no imagination)
