Blush He phoned with a delivery, no one at home.
I started to say 'can you put it...' and he finished my sentence. And then he said, 'and I know you anyway'....Never met the man in my life. He is THAT used to delivering to me.

Comfort me, I'm not the only one, am I?

Our sainsbury delivery van was the first person outside hospital to see dd - before any grandparents !

Greengardenpixie · 07/05/2015 15:14

I was out at the post office once and met the delivery man for DPD. He handed me my parcel Blush

Alibabsandthe40Musketeers · 07/05/2015 15:16

A couple of mine wave to me if they see me driving past them, they know my car Grin

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/05/2015 15:17

Yup, all of them Blush...DPD, Yodel, Hermes, Parcelforce, the normal postie, the Royal Mail van postie...I do like online shopping.

More worryingly I think they all reckon I live in PJs!

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 07/05/2015 15:21

The myhermes lady lives 5/6 doors down so will send her daughter up when she sees my car home.

The postman delivers to work lives behind me. He will now bring parcels addressed to home to work so I don't have to go to the sorting office Blush

Pumpkinette · 07/05/2015 16:41

The only delivery man that knows me is the one for the local Chinese takeaway shop Blush Grin.

I don't really do a lot of online shopping and when I do I tend to use click and collect. I hate having to return stuff via mail so for me it's just easier to go into a shop and buy it.

LokiPokey · 07/05/2015 17:13

During pregnancy I shopped online a lot, DPD Dan saw my bump get bigger and bigger then DC was born at Christmas and no online shopping was done for several months.
I didn't think anything about how often DPD Dan had been round until he delivered the first parcel since giving birth and shouted congratulations at me as soon as I opened the door and asked how the baby was as they were 4 months now. He was spot on.

There's also a Yodel bloke who I dislike intently and the feeling is mutual. Bumping into him in town results in glaring and muttering under breathe at each other and quickly walking away!

RingtheBells · 07/05/2015 17:27

Also my local collect + newsagent knows me well from all the returns Blush

MrsGuyGarvey · 07/05/2015 17:56

Yep the old boy knows that unless it's likely to be breakable to throw it over the side gate.

MehsMum · 07/05/2015 18:02

Yep, the man from Majestic and the one who delivers for Amazon ('What's he got this time? It's heavy!')
But both of these are really DH's fault, not mine.

IloveCheese11 · 07/05/2015 18:12

My local takeaway sent me a Christmas card. Addressed to me personally.

MadisonMontgomery · 07/05/2015 19:28

Oh thank God for this thread, I feel so much better now! Can't think of a delivery company where I don't know the driver tbh, so nice to know others share my spendthrift ways Grin

LoveVintage · 07/05/2015 19:33

Oh yes, how we laugh together at the amount of returns I have. Always has as biscuit in his pocket for the dog.

The dcs like tracking the DPD delivery man online when we know he is coming. They check if he is skiving, eg 'mum he's been parked in tesco car park for 25 minutes now'. He is very cheery.

Katieweasel · 07/05/2015 19:35

If I'm not in for a delivery then my lovely delivery man drops it off at my work!

lurkingaround · 07/05/2015 19:44

Ah I am not alone. Such comfort in company. Grin

Sometimes if the kids see a DPD van anywhere in the locality, they give a roar 'MUM delivery!'
Love all the connections with delivery folk!

This thread made me laugh. My Hermes man once stopped me in the park to tell me he had a parcel in the van and on another occasion when I was at my mum's he was delivering to her and recognised me and then went and got another parcel out for me.....I'd saved him a trip apparently. The shame Grin

CapnMurica · 07/05/2015 20:21

Aw, where are you all when there is an AIBU thread about shitty delivery drivers eh??! Grin

My neighbour used to be ours which was good, but to be honest the bloke that took over is great as well. I know by sight two blokes and there is one woman as well who DH has seen quite a lot.

They are all my deliveries Blush

MsBojangles · 07/05/2015 20:38

DHL Danny regulars mocks my capricious shopping behaviour.

magichandles · 07/05/2015 20:43

Herbie from Hermes and I are well acquainted - it's pretty useful actually as he's been known to hold off delivering until I'm back from the school/ preschool run if he sees me out and about.

MarniRose · 07/05/2015 20:46

Yes. And it's embarrassing.

He often says ' see you again later in the week then! ' if it's Monday or Tuesday .

It got so bad at one point that even if I was in I'd amend the tracking thing to ' please leave in back porch ' just to avoid having to see him.

Madbengalmum · 07/05/2015 20:47

Yes, i know Nick my Dhl driver, Nigel my postman, Ray from Ups and the woman from myhermes!
Nothing wrong with that!!

GrouchyKiwi · 07/05/2015 20:53

Hermes Man said the other day "I like delivering to you..."

Warm fuzzies for Grouchy.

"... Because you're always home. "

Confused
GrouchyKiwi · 07/05/2015 20:54

My parents' postman came to my sister's wedding.

HellKitty · 07/05/2015 20:58

We order just about everything online and yes they know me. The worst was the last time a delivery came, the driver said 'miss HELLKITTY?', so I said yes. It was a parcel for my DP, totally different surname but the driver knows my name. And that I eat toblerone.

Redglitter · 07/05/2015 21:02

DPD driver and I are on first name termsBlush

He buzzed my intercom today I answered and he says 'Morning Redglitter, Joe here, parcel for you'

He stands and blethers and regularly uses my loo
