People who double cleanse - which cleanser do you use for your second cleanse?

Lottapianos · 06/05/2015 09:11

I'm currently using Superdrug Natural Radiance Hot Cloth Cleanser for the first cleanse and its fine. I had been using a No7 cleanser for the second part but I'm coming to the end of the bottle and I fancy trying something different. This is the part of the cleanse that actually cleans your skin, rather than just removing the make up, so I'm willing to spend a bit more - up to 20. Although of course, budget options are always welcome!

My skin is dry and dehydrated if it helps

Thanks

I used balanceMe balm and face wash. But I just got Elemis and can't believe just how good it is. I think I will use Vichy waterproof eye make up remover and follow with Elemis. Or does it have to be Elemis twice?

The difference with Clinique popularised routine is that cleansers are oil based (no mineral oil though) and toners are gentle acids (like Pixi) to restore skin's acidic mantle.

Check this out, OnlyLovers: www.vouchercodes.co.uk/thebodyshop.co.uk. I can't imagine they police the "new customers in store" one too closely Hmm It looks like the £10 off with orders/in store purchases over £25 is this week's offer as it expires in 4 days.

You can get Tata Harper from Being Content (and you can order samples from there), Cult Beauty and Naturisimo. I've got quite a few bits and have tested a few more. Rate pretty much everything, although the resurfacing mask... I just know of better, cheaper ones, it's not that it's bad. Everything feels lovely and pampering, nice smells, and I find the results to be good. That oil cleanser is just so nice for massage and leaves a glow. I find my easily dehydrated skin fares better with make up on if I use that in the morning, otherwise make up can go patchy.

OnlyLovers · 06/05/2015 11:11

Thanks! You should charge for this. It's like a personal-shopping consultation. Smile

Nabootique · 06/05/2015 11:15

That would be my dream job! Grin

I'm always a bit suspicious by derms recommending Cetaphil too.

water, cetyl alcohol, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfate, stearyl alcohol, methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben.

Nothing there looks especially skin friendly to me.

Nabootique · 06/05/2015 11:37

Urgh! I've never used it or looked at the ingredients, but alcohol, parabens and SLS? Nice! How does anyone get on with this? Confused

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/05/2015 11:47

It's vile stuff, I can't believe people bang on about it so much, they must have tougher skin than I do!

OnlyLovers · 06/05/2015 11:48

Do it, Nabootique! I'll take a finders fee, obviously. Grin

AmelieinOz · 06/05/2015 11:50

I don't find Cetaphil drying. I have oily-combination skin. :)

Lottapianos · 06/05/2015 12:33

Ooh, sounds like I need to body-swerve the Cetaphil! The ingredients sound pretty grim

OK Nabootique, Tata Harper is going on my birthday list. Just 7 months to go Confused

Sign up to the mailing lists on the websites that stock it, Lotta. You get emailed offers/discounts all the time. I think I ordered mine from Naturisimo with a 15% discount code.

MooMinCow · 06/05/2015 12:36

I use either Body shop Aloe Vera cleanser or Cerave in the morning (works well with a clarisonic too) doesn't foam, skin feels clean but not tight.

Much better than cetaphil

MooMinCow · 06/05/2015 12:39

Ingredients info

Nabootique · 06/05/2015 12:42

That looks much nicer, with actual good stuff in and, fuck me! Paula's Choice actually RATES SOMETHING! Shock Shock

MooMinCow · 06/05/2015 12:53

It's great stuff Naboo. Gave it to 12 year old DS who has occasional eczema to use too and is clearing it up nicely. I normally beg a bottle off anyone I know going stateside Wink

RitaOrange · 06/05/2015 12:57

I thought Cetaphil was for acne prone skin??

Nabootique · 06/05/2015 13:04

I think the dermatologists often recommend it for acne prone skin, though not sure of the reasoning behind it, maybe because it's bland and unfragranced so won't irritate.

ImBrian · 06/05/2015 13:18

I use garnier micellar cleansing water to take make up off and then Liz Earle clense and polish. The garnier stuff is cheap but works really well to take off make up. The liz Earle is not so cheap but it lasts ages and my skin looks a lot better from using it.

SonorousBip · 06/05/2015 13:29

Another vote for micellar water. A dermatologist I saw recommended it - said you're just looking for something to take off the bulk of your make up, then giving your cleanser a much better head start to do the more interesting/useful stuff.

My skin complains quite a lot about a variety of things, but a swoosh of micellar water has never done any harm at all.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/05/2015 14:10

I have :
Philosophy Purity Made Simple (with a muslin)
Good Things Manuka Honey Cleanser (with a muslin)
Soap & Glory Drama Clean (Micellar Water)

First two for make-up days, Micellar for naked face days.

DS uses Cetaphil in the shower, it's the one he specifically asks for

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/05/2015 14:14

I use micellar gel for eye make up, it's fantastic stuff, no panda eyes for me in the morningGrin

Pasithea · 06/05/2015 14:21

Baby wipes and Claris at night. Aqua libra. In the morning.

Pasithea · 06/05/2015 14:21

Clarins. Bloody spell check

MsBojangles · 06/05/2015 14:32

Clinique TOTD then Emma Hardie - it's nice to use the one with treatmenty ingredients second.

I don't bother double cleansing if I'm not wearing make up or SPF.

makeupcake · 06/05/2015 14:51

I like using a toner after cleansing all the first and makeup off. I use Burts Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser, and then a toner on top. I like Clinique's toners, because they smell so crisp and clean and i can really feel them working on my skin. It depends what skin type you have though as it can dry out skin if you grab the wrong one for your skin type. I found a site called www.mybeautymatches.com that gives you your exact match because it makes you take a short personalized beauty quiz to find out your problems, etc. I hope that helps! Was fun reading what everyone else uses! Wink
