Hairstyles for glasses - advice desperately needed!

I've returned from the opticians having found out that I now need to wear glasses full time. My current hairstyle looks truly horrible with my thick, shaggy locks and rather unkempt, wayward fringe.

I would love to find a website that offered a selection of ideas - I've googled a few but they show 'glamour puss' ladies rather than 50+ women with a couple of double chins!

I await your guidance ................ TIA

www.google.co.uk/search?q=FRINGE+AND+GLASSES&es_sm=91&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=0m1GVazNB8vLaNu7gIgD&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1304&bih=519

I am no S&B expert but have been wearing glasses from the age of 4 yo so I know a bit about trying to get some balance.

Not sure if there is a hair/glasses combo website but if you get an idea of what may work you can find ideas just through google images (see my search results on fringe and glasses).

Firstly, what is your current hair like? Thick? curly? long? short? When you say wayward fringe what do you mean by that? Full? Sideways? Blunt cut?

Do you have glasses at the moment - what are they like? Narrow/shallow frames of a few years back? Bigger squarer frames? Wire? Plastic? Rimless? Do you like them? Why/why not?

And then as a final question what shape is your face? As a general rule you should try and balance out any quirks of your face (if you excuse the expression). SO if you have a square face don't go for dramatically square frames - you need a bit of curve on them. Likewise really round faces don't suit really round frames.

A bit more info and/or a photo may help.

Many thanks for replying!

I have thick, wavy layered shoulder length hair which is in a slightly 'tousled' style. I've had a fringe for pretty much all my life - I think that my forehead is rather narrow and I suppose the fringe disguises this! It tends to stick out and rarely lies flat. My face is long and, being overweight, my eyes appear small. I do have a couple of double chins.

My current (reading) glasses are old and very unfashionable. My new ones are a plastic frame and looked really nice on me in the opticians. It was my hair that just looked like a bush.

If you can offer help, I'd be really grateful.
