How do you look after your legs?

Mine are grim. After I've shaved them they tend to itch and I have a horrible habit of scratching them... They're just so dry. Can anyone recommend an industrial strength moisturiser, or any other tips?

I do nothing in the winter! Shave them in the summer and apply a moisuriser. Will apply more of a moisturiser as the skin is starting to look a bit crepey old and bit shiny now :( on inspection.
I have a prominent shin bone which i hate too. Nothing i can do about that. I have a few broken veins at the back and stretch marks. I apply fake tan and hope for the best!!!

daimbardiva · 03/05/2015 15:34

I epilate as I find it is kinder to my skin than shaving. I moisturise as often as I can be bothered and in summer I use garnier summer body every few days to take the glare off!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/05/2015 15:43

I don't do much to mine - just shave them, fairly shoddily, in the bath. If they are dry, I swear by Aveeno moisturiser - brilliant stuff. And in summer I use the Dove glow stuff in the lightest shade, just to give a tiny bit of colour.

CointreauVersial · 03/05/2015 15:51

Epilate.

Use Body Shop Body Butter if they are really dry, otherwise just any old body lotion.

Use Dove Holiday Skin tanning body lotion when I start to get my legs out in the Spring, and sometimes an instant tan like Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs if they need a quick boost.

I leave them alone in the winter too. A bit of body hair gives you an extra layer of insulation, no? Wink

Bavmorda · 04/05/2015 10:13

Thanks all, someone else was recommending Body Shop butters... might give them a try.

I highly recommend shaving with aqueous cream, I've used it for years and follow up with a blob of aveeno and my legs have improved so much on the itchy front :-)

CandyApocalypse · 06/05/2015 08:22

I always exfoliate before shaving. I use body shop body butter on my legs every day (or aveeno) whether shaving or not. I use a decent shave gel, or conditioner. I shave all year round if relevant.

Itsalldramarama · 06/05/2015 12:45

EpilAte but try to shave once in between as it prevents ingrown hairs ! Use sons double base as moisturiser! Non greasy and leaves lovely and soft ( then avoid the dog as she goes crazy trying to lick it off !! ) garniier gradual tan from spring onwards ...

toffeeboffin · 06/05/2015 13:33

Exfoliate. Shave. Fake tan. Moisturizer if necessary. Smile

BigSmilesCheesyPie · 06/05/2015 13:46

Exfoliate, epilate once every week or two and moisturise every day. E45 lotion is really unexciting but good if you have dry/prone to sore skin (I had childhood eczema so my skin is prone to being a bit sore if I am not careful), I find the body shop body butters really good too.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/05/2015 13:49

I got rid of the itching completely by using women's shaving gel for sensitive skin, Satin care I think it's called.

barbidou · 06/05/2015 13:52

Don't want to hijack, but is there anything other than moisturising that can be done for leg scars from ingrown hairs? I have pale skin and they are so obvious.

LoopyLa · 06/05/2015 13:55

I had some scars on my very pale legs too barbidou and found daily application of Bio oil has really help them fade. Think Boots do their own brand one which is just as good & cheaper too.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/05/2015 13:55

Healgel? Have a Google, I find it hard to post links from the iPad . Scarzone cream is good too.

iwantgin · 06/05/2015 15:10

I leave themhairy in winter.

Epilate in spring/summer/prior to beach holidays.

If they look dry then I use some body lotion.

Is the shaving gel/soap making your legs drier?

myneighbourtotoro2 · 06/05/2015 15:13

I shave and use baby oil on them after every shower. If they're extra dry I steal some of dds diprobase

SarahBeenysBumblingApprentice · 06/05/2015 15:21

Hmm. Mine seem to need more care than most!

I epilate as shaving gives me eczema and if I don't exfoliate I'm prone to ingrowing hairs so I use exfoliation mitts every morning in the shower. Once a week I use an oil based body scrub such as the one by the sanctuary but you could make you own. Have to use it on dry skin then wash off or it doesn't work well though!

In the winter I use a body shop body butter daily but in the summer I can get away with any old lotion. St tropez gradual fake tan twice weekly in the summer as well.

PrincessShcherbatskaya · 06/05/2015 16:08

Shave daily in the summer and use St Tropez gradual daily tanning cream every other day. Palmers Cocoa butter gradual tanner also gives a nice colour and doesn't go patchy. At the moment I am trying to keep up a regime of daily squats to tone them up a bit for summer (not sure how long this enthusiasm will last though).

barbidou · 06/05/2015 16:23

Thanks LoopyLa and Dame - will have a look at those.

MumSnotBU · 06/05/2015 16:28

I shave mine in the bath with a razor if I was baring my legs. Other than that I exercise so that they are strong and toned. I never moisturise them, and they seem fine.

burnishedsilver · 06/05/2015 17:30

The itch could be mild allergy to shower gel, soap or shaving foam. See if an antihistamine helps with the itch and change products to see if it makes any difference.

MsBojangles · 06/05/2015 17:56

This stuff is awesome, think Liquid Gold for the body. Stinks though!
