Reducing the effect of chickenpox?

DaftSkunk · 03/05/2015 14:02

I unfortunately managed to catch chickenpox from dc about 10 days ago. Im no longer contagious and due to go back to work on Tuesday but my skin (it hit my face particularly badly) is still really red and blotchy. Is there anything I can do about this to reduce it between now and Tuesday? I'm feeling really self conscious about it...

Thanks.

piriton to stop itching

I used Aveeno on DS (OK I use it on everything!) but it seemed to calm it all down. There is a wash and moisturiser/ lotion. Oat based and very soothing.

Thanks everyone, I'm past the itchy phase thank god and most of the scabs (lovely) have gone but have left red marks everywhere, including all over my face. I can cover up everywhere else just not my face Sad.

What did you have in mind? Make up?
I assumed you were looking for something to help heal the old scars and I would still recommend something to calm the redness and any inflammation e.g. Aveeno or coconut oil rather than something that could irritate.

Avene Xeracalm cream is magic for taking away redness and healing. I have been using it on the Dcs during and after chickenpox. There is a cream called Cicalfate also by Avene which is great for healing up any crusty spots as well.

Sorry sonotkylie I think we crossed posts. Thanks for the suggestions.

Good luck - I expect it looks worse to you than to anyone else (honest!) and give it a few more days and they will barely be noticeable. Oh and a lengthy foreign holiday in the lap of luxury might also do the trick.
