How to achieve the middle class / posh girl look and lifestyle?

Hello everyone.

I was seen, and read some threads similar to this, however I was wondering whether anyone could give me some advice, it would be much appreciated Smile

I have long been a 'fan' of the posh / middle class fashion look e.g. long hair, joules, white stuff ect. I was wondering what staples you would suggest purchasing in order to achieve this look and lifestyle e.g. I am looking into buying a barbour coat, once I can get to the shops (currently recovering from an illness at the moment, and part of this post is get some advice before I update my wardrobe to make myself feel a bit better) Advice on where to shop / eat and act would be great too Smile

Any tips / advice to help me achieve this look / lifestyle would be greatly appreciated. No negative comments please.

Thanks all! Smile

And do you mean posh girl? As in young woman? I met a whole batch of them at the weekend. Oxford students. They all wore teeny teeny black mini skirts and black leggings and black lacy tops and tons of eyeliner. They were posh and they were girls, but I doubt they'd wear Joules.

Surely if you eat, dress, act and relax axxording to the advice or internet strangers, then that IS being something you're not?

stuckonchapterone · 02/05/2015 19:51

This most definitely isn't a joke... Sad As stated, I've been through a tough time with my health, and just wanted to turn my life and wardrobe around, that is all. Thought I would get some helpful advice.. but never mind Sad

I quite like that look too. Try googling preppy style but I don't get the question about where to eat. Do you mean waitrose Vs asda or trendy restaurants? I mean, seriously, just eat what/where you want.

stuckonchapterone · 02/05/2015 19:52

Machin, I still tend to be myself. I just want a new looked feel adopted into my life. Sorry it bothers so many of you Sad

TheBuskersDog · 02/05/2015 19:53

Do you mean you want to be like Kate/Pippa Middleton?

usualsuspect333 · 02/05/2015 19:53

You can't fake posh.

stuckonchapterone · 02/05/2015 19:53

I just meant items which are associated with this look, as usually (from what I gather) such people are quite health aware ect?

I don't think middle class/posh people wear barbours. Not around here anyway.

tyto · 02/05/2015 19:54

Buy from ebay - always loads of boden and whitestuff on there

stuckonchapterone · 02/05/2015 19:54

I'm not trying to 'fake' posh, I just like the style. Wow, some people on here are incredibly harsh and judgemental... Sad

Machin · 02/05/2015 19:54

Sorry OP. I didn't mean to upset you. I'm just trying to understand.

Is there something new in your life you want to fit in with? Area, ILs, Industry??

bberry · 02/05/2015 19:54

Nice fitting pieces, not too tight...

Lovely linen jackets in joules now and cardigans... Team with 7/8 trousers from m&s

Nice loafers

Oh, and a jazzy scarf!

iHAVEtogetoutofhere · 02/05/2015 19:55

I'd say the best quality boots/shoes and bag you can afford.

A simple haircut/colour kept immaculately.

Well fitting clothes.

Few accessories.

Neat jewellery (not too bling).

Discreet makeup.

Hope you feel brighter in yourself soon and enjoy your new 'look'.x

YouMakeMyHeartSmile · 02/05/2015 19:55

I get the clothing thing sort of, but completely confused about the eat/act thing. Surely that is trying to be something you're not?
I'm not trying to be mean OP, I just think it's sad that you feel the need to act anything other than who you are. Do the activities you enjoy, eat the food you like and dress in the clothes you like and I can guarantee you will look and feel better and more confident than if you try to be something else.

jellymaker · 02/05/2015 19:56

John Lewis is a good place to start. Look on eBay or try charity shops in well heeled towns.

BeaufortBelle · 02/05/2015 19:56

I think you can still get the "Sloane Ranger Handbook" from Ebay. I think you should also write a personal note to Peter York on engraved stationery asking him to translate it into contemporaneous style for you.

You are who you are. I think the labrador might have been replaced by the Labradoodle or cockapoo

Stitchintime1 · 02/05/2015 19:56

I know people are being mocking, but your posts are a bit silly. And stop with all the sad faces. You must realise how silly you sound. I want to look posh. Please help me. Nobody could take that seriously.

If you'd started with, "I want to looked groomed and professional" or "sleek and chic," you'd have got more advice.

Fossilsandfoxes · 02/05/2015 19:57

Op' in the nicest possible way, sign up for some sort of course, book club or activity, which appeals to you which will make you feel happy, excited and confident.

LilQueenie · 02/05/2015 19:57

Wardrobe overhaul go for it. If its a style you want to try do it but trust me acting and eating to match wont work. No matter how hard you try you will be faking it. Be yourself. You cant act and be yourself. Sounds like there are aspects of yourself ie perhaps personality you are trying to escape from. A little counselling to acheive more confidence in yourself would be a good option for you.

FromMeToYou · 02/05/2015 19:58

Can you put some photos up from google images of what you would like or people whose style you admire?

Skinheadmermaid · 02/05/2015 19:58

Do you mean rah girls? Like a sort of made in chelsea kind of vibe?

WipsGlitter · 02/05/2015 19:58

By activities do you mean sailing etc? And golf? What about cookery lessons? Skiing?

For clothes maybe Jack Wills? Holister?

Truckingalong · 02/05/2015 19:58

Being young, slim and rich with great skin and long thick hair always helps!

usualsuspect333 · 02/05/2015 19:58

I can understand you liking the clothes, but the rest, not so much.
