what to wear to Buckenham Palace garden party?

Help, I am going to Buckenham Palace garden party and can't spend a fortune. Anny suggestions?

Me too! Am just going to wear a nice skirt and blouse I own, and borrow a hat from my sister! I think there be a wide range of clothes worn, I'm guessing on the modest side. Do you have any smart dresses/trousers/skirts you can add to with some nice accessories?

Comfy shoes which are OK on grass.

Handbag with shoulder strap (you'll want hands free).

Most women wear hats.

Have you been to any daytime weddings recently? Still got what you wore then?

Buckenham is a small village? Why are you going to a garden party there?

There is a Buckingham Palace, it would be very embarrassing to get the two mixed up.

Oh yes I second the comfy shoes comment, I have some low wedges which are smart, but definitely not a thin heel, have made that mistake before!

There was another thread on this a couple of weeks ago, you could have a search for that one-lots of suggestions. On the BH website there are details of dress code and photos of other garden parties.
Some people were -over--dressed to the nines, others quite casual.
Agree you need comfy shoes, hats are optional, but most of the women wore hats or fascinators. Take an umbrella unless the forecast is exceptional, and even then you might need it as a sunshade.
Daytime wedding outfit is ideal, a good opportunity to wear it again if you have one.
I'm no royalist but it was a brilliant day out.

Oh, sorry ThingummyJigg especially as Royal twister sounds awesome.

It's simply because guests will be wielding cups, saucers, cake, ice cream etc and unless you're an octopus, not having one hand taken up with a clutch bag really helps.
