High heels for those who don't wear heels (two weddings to attend!)

Ok, so I never wear heels, I find them really uncomfortable and live in converse, boots, basically comfy stuff.

However we have a couple of weddings this summer and converse are not going to cut it. I've got a couple of possible outfits, one would require navy shoes/sandals, one black or possibly nude for either (is that still in or out - I have NO clue).

So I need heels that
a) aren't so high I fall off them/am crippled 2 mins into the ceremony
b) I can fit my wide feet into
c) won't have me doing the 'chicken' bent knee/not used to high heels walk

Mission impossible?

something with a slight block heel to keep balance. Plain

Honestly though, it isnt your wedding so i would not fret too much. Noone will care about your shoes

SpaghettiMeatballs · 30/04/2015 06:33

I'd look at the wide fit at Clarks if you struggle with width.

If you're not used to heels then something with a strap would be ideal.

Lovetheleaves · 30/04/2015 06:36

Marks and spencer do some nice wider foot range and they have a low mid wedge heel .

yellowsun · 30/04/2015 06:38

I like these and I'm not used to wearing heels either. They are so comfy. They also do some called 'chorus tempo' which look like they are replacing the range (I have the thrills in 3 colours!).

I have the same problem, never ever wear heels but needed some go with a party dress so I recently bought these and they are so comfortable, I wore them all night with no problem. Even dancing wasn't an issue. They have a platform so the heel isn't as high as it looks and the heel isn't too skinny so I didn't topple over. The range has some other styles without the strap if you prefer but I found I needed it to support my foot

Cross post, actually I think mine are the same as the ones yellow posted, the heel in the one I linked to are thicker than mine

SpaghettiMeatballs · 30/04/2015 06:49

Yes, the chorus range are great. I wear them for work when I'm going to be on my feet a lot.

FairyPenguin · 30/04/2015 06:58

Another non-heel wearer with wide feet here. I like the look of those Chorus ones but I'm not keen on suede.

My work shoes were from Clarks but looking very dated after 10 years, and I can't seen to find a replacement pair.

I recently bought a pair of black patent court shoes from M&S for a black tie event, which were really comfy. They're just too shiny for work!

minibmw2010 · 30/04/2015 07:04

I've got those Clarks ones but mine are patent nude. Very comfy. Plus my SIL has a pair and she's very fashionable so I was happy with that ??

dexter73 · 30/04/2015 07:28

I have these from Clarks and they are very comfortable.

AwakeWithTheSparrows · 30/04/2015 07:36

Snarky Branleuse! When did I say people will care about my shoes?
I care about my shoes!

Those Chorus ones are lovely, I've ordered some, thanks all Flowers Smile

For heels I can have a night out and walk home in afterwards, Clarks is the first port of call.

Branleuse · 30/04/2015 16:08

i didnt mean it snarky, i just meant dont fret about high heels if youre not used to them when its only somebody elses wedding,

ThatBloodyWoman · 30/04/2015 16:12

I'd just wear flats tbh.
It surprises me that some women think they still should wear heels (whatever the occasion) if they find them uncomfortable.

roslyndee · 30/04/2015 16:15

Yeah I'm with pp, why bother with heels if you don't like them when flats exist? :S

I can't even wear ballet flats for that long, the last wedding I went to I wore flats for the ceremony and changed back into my converse at the reception

Wore trainers at my own wedding...

birkiekid · 30/04/2015 16:22

I was joining in to recommend the Clarks Chorus Thrill/Tempo but I see I've been beaten to it.

I am a wide footed, occasional heel wearer and I find the E fit of these very comfortable.

I also have these shoe boots and they are great these

Thurlow · 30/04/2015 16:30

Another vote for Clarks. The only nice heels I can wear for ages are Clarks. They've got a teeny bit of a platform at the front so the heels seem a little less high than they actually are. So something a bit like these

I actually prefer something without a toe, for some reason they seems to feel more comfortable to me - my toes aren't squashing into the end of the shoe, if that makes any sense?

(On a side note, that Orla Keily Clarks shoes are awful!)

FrugalFashionista · 30/04/2015 16:36

Slim wedge feels are the solution for me. They are dainty enough but work both outdoors (soggy grass...) or if I have to stand for hours in a party. Sandals are tricky, if your feet swell the straps cut into your flesh, I avoid those as party shoes.
