HELP!! Exactly one week to settle a deep sore spot..

Houseofmaidens · 24/04/2015 21:56

Before my wedding party!
Little deep sore flat grumbling bugger about 7mm across and just underneath the outer edge of my mouth. It comes and goes and of course it's come back just in time for the party. Skin over it is quite smooth which means it's reasonably concealable if it doesn't get worse so the last thing I want to do is burst or aggravate it. Just looking for tips to aid deep skin level healing..Any genius ideas much appreciated xx

There is a great trick, worked for me:

Hold an icecube against the spot for as long as you can bear it, about 5-10 mins in total (including a couple of intervals). Do this 2/3 times a day.

The coldness means that bacterial growth is halted, it will go red where you had the icecube, for a bit, but that is extra blood going to the spot, helping clearing it up.

Please come back and tell me how you got on.

This Always worked for me with those deep slow growing bastard spots.

It rakes the pain/pressure feeling away as well .

Take an anti inflammatory like ibuprofen, will work on the spot without you having to touch it.

Good luck for the wedding party!

I would coat - and I mean coat - it with Zovirax overnight for a couple of nights. It's good at healing cracks and sores as well as cold sores and isn't drying. Tea tree oil is my absolute go-to, but it is drying and would probably mean you'd end up with flakes so I woudnt recommend it with the timescale you have.

Have you got time to visit a sympathetic GP for a topical antibiotic?

Spot or cold sore?

Assuming spot there is still time to get rid - you need to put A LOT of salicylic acid on it. I love Vichy Hyaluspot as lots of salicylic but also hyaluronic so the spot doesn't get dried up as it goes away.

Reapply it several times a day, if it's deep the spot will most likely then disappear without ever coming to a head.

A private dermatologist can inject it with a little cortisone. Apparently this is what celebs do in emergencies.

Thank you ladies. I have bought Vichy hyaluspot and am pinning my hopes on it. Meanwhile practicing concealer tricks. Urgh. Ah well..if its the worse that happens and all that.......:)
