So fed up of sore, aching feet

So I have plenty of choice in the shoe department - converse, skechers trainers, ugg boots, leather boots, ballet flats and flip flops of various descriptions - but they all hurt my feet in some way or another. I have size 6 feet, but they are narrow and my toes are really long and bony. I love shoes and want to look stylish, but I want comfort too! Does anyone have any recommendations for every day footwear that I can wear for the school run, nipping out etc? I don't think I could wear trainers full time, but o would consider it if they were super comfy!

I swear by sketchers go walk,

www.skechers.co.uk/search?t=go+walk

they are not very stylish but you will never have sore feet again

SevenEleven · 23/04/2015 14:30

Thanks, Lynne2015! People keep telling me I need go walks but am going to the US in a couple of months and was holding off buying them and seeing if they were cheaper over there. May be I should just buy some now. I did see some lacey ones in Schuh that were a bit prettier than the original style. They are just so different to my usual style, which is probably why I have not bought any yet!

I can't seem to find them on the schuh website, but they were definitely in the store window last week!

Found them! Not Go walks, though, although do have memory foam inners. Might be worth a try on.

Link doesn't seem to work, but they are the first shies on the list if you search the Schuh website for skechers ladies shoes. Called sweet pea trainers.

Do you go barefoot a lot? I have painful feet and find it very very difficult to find good shoes. I've found through a LOT of trial and error a couple of brands that really suit me (comfort wise) and stick to those regardless of what they look like.
One of the brands that works for me is Merrell and their barefoot shoes are really comfortable. I'd rather go barefoot everywhere so barefoot shoes are my compromise!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/04/2015 18:13

You need my mega sandals thread! There are zillions of links on there.

MerdeAlor · 23/04/2015 19:06

I'm not surprised your feet hurt. All your shoes (apart from the skechers trainers) are rubbish, with inadequate shock absorption, thin soles and no support.
Get yourself into some decent supportive shoes and your feet will stop hurting - I promise.

Walkingonsunshine00 · 23/04/2015 19:07

New balance?

SevenEleven · 23/04/2015 19:46

TheEmpressofBlandings - I do go barefoot in the house, but am very flat footed, which doesn't help matters and am more comfortable with some sort of support from footwear.

Remus - could you link to the thread for me? Sounds like I need to read that!

MerdeAlor - you are completely right! All of my shoes are completely inadequate for both support and comfort. I am just seduced by the look of them! (damn Pinterest) Last year I found some Havaianas in TK Maxx for a steal and wore them to death. Very comfortable for flopping round the garden, poolside, but a trip into the local town and walking round for a couple of hours and my shins were so painful. I am now resigned to comfort over style!

Walkingonsunshine00 - I have been told about New Balance, and I should go and try some on and see for myself, but I cannot get over the cost of them for something that looks like trainers my mum made me wear to school when I really just wanted some Reeboks! Grin

Here you go Be warned: some of the links on there are pretty terrifying! Grin

Fly shoes/boots are the only thing I can wear , they aren't cheap but they are soooo worth it

SevenEleven · 23/04/2015 19:55

That was in the 90's BTW. Really wanted these. My Mum said they were 'glorified plimsolls' and said no!

Thanks Remus! Will take a look.

Maddy68 - Had forgotten about Fly. Will take a look, thanks!

Have you tried fit flop shoes and flip flops? I love their sneakers, a million times more comfy than converse!

SevenEleven · 23/04/2015 20:27

I have had fit flops in the past and completely forgotten about them! Off to google to see what they have to offer these days! Thanks!

I go for comfort and style.
Have narrow skinny feet and long skinny toes like op.

I bought this month....

White leather lace up shoe from Clarke's. Slightly brogue like and feather light. Room for a really top quality insole £20.From Outlet.

.Blue canvas lace up plimsol style with decent sole at Face in TK Maxx £10 with room for good insole.

Navyblue sketcher style, open work on the top and Velcro fastening at ankle.lightweight and room for insole Clarke's. £29.99.
Outlet Centre.

For comfort...laced, buckled or Velcro and thickish sole, good insoles.

imip · 24/04/2015 05:38

Agree that your current shoes provide no real support. I'm in a similar position, flip flops and unsupportive sandals all summer coupled with lots of walking.

I gt myself a pair of asics and black nikes for 'dressing up' and they are my day to day wear. Much better! Nice shoes now only for going out.

My dd has hypermobility syndrome and the right pair of trainers makes such a difference for her. It is really the difference between being able to walk or not.it really has made me realise how important a stability shoe actually is.

BloggersNetwork · 24/04/2015 06:10

I find Geox very comfortable, even high wedged ones

goshhhhhh · 24/04/2015 06:41

I would also think about getting some orthotics....
Will help!

HolgerDanske · 24/04/2015 06:44

Have a look for 'foot balance' moulded insoles. They are custom made specifically to your foot and will offer support in a way that very little else will.

They're expensive but well worth it.

MsAspreyDiamonds · 24/04/2015 06:45

If you can find some square toed boots/shoes rather than round or pointy toed that makes a huge difference. My toes have plenty of room to move, Clarke's have square toed boots which I buy every winter and I can walk for miles in them.

SevenEleven · 24/04/2015 12:49

Thanks for all of the replies! I will take a look at all of the suggestions. Have been looking at the other sandal thread and have come up with a couple of options for the warmer weather. What do you think of these, just for casual everyday wear?

Teva

fitflop

Can't find any trainers that I love, but might pop into TK Maxx at the weekend to see what they have.

If I get some orthotics or insoles, do I have to go up a shoe size?

BloggersNetwork - thanks for the suggestion of geox. Just looking on the website and some lovely styles! Never looked on there before!
