Sandals Challenge - less-than-perfect ankles, short legs, high arches

I love sandals. But my feet and legs really don't - as above, I have average-to-crappy ankles, high arches and my skin seems to rub off as soon as it sees the sun. I'm also reasonably short so do better with shoes that give the illusion of more length, IYSWIM.

I've tried camper sandals (not really enough support, toes gripping the bottom of the shoe to keep them on), I've tried Havaiana flip-flops (bleeding between the toes) and last year I gave up and just wore my Converse instead. I have some lovely wedges which look nice but which I just can't wear on the school run or any time I have to walk a long way.

I would LOVE some nice sandals that I can wear with shorts, skirts, grouses etc and not feel like I am doing my legs less than justice, as well as not causing actual injury every time I try to wear them.

Is there hope for me?

you sound exactly like me-I also have very horrible feet in a size 3. I got reiker wedge sandals a few years ago which are not exactly the most glamorous sandals I have ever had but for the height of heel they offer defo the most comfortable-and they dont make my ankles look any thicker than they already are

I'm a bit the same, but have some flatforms (nearly flat wedges) with soft gathered leather uppers that seem comfortable, and the extra height helps. I cannot link to any as I got them last year. I think the other thing is to accustom your feet slowly- a little at a time.

Thanks! So am I condemned never to have flat sandals? Will have a google of flatforms. I also saw Yokono sandals and thought they might be bearable

Hi I have high arches and find yokono v comfortable, also have no problems with saltwater

Those Yokono sandals look comfortable as long as the toe strap will not cause you problems. I think flats or very low wedges will always be the most comfortable. Broad adjustable soft leather straps helps. I think one of my problems - beside high arches (so I need more room across the mid foot, as you probably do too) is having slightly wider feet that also need a little extra room, so adjustable fit or at least the correct fit is important.
Good luck with your search!
