Any got any tips please?

Just moved to a new office with steep stairs - nearly tipped twice which is worrying me esp as I pregnant.

I don't wear very high heels, but colleagues who do tend to put the ball of the foot on the step, but not the heel IYSWIM? And hold the handrail. Do you feel otherwise comfortable in your shoes? I know my balance felt different in my second pregnancy and I had to stop wearing my (slightly) high heels because I didn't feel comfortable with my ability not to fall over.

Yes heels are ok - just don't like the steep stairs in them.

take them off to carry up and down the stairs if v steep?

Otherwise go slow and hold on to handrail.

Thanks,

There's no handrail - it's an old converted townhouse.

You mean just go shoeless - not sure I could get away with that.

One hand on the wall, other arm raised out horizontally, take one step at a time, place feet sideways for best stability, don't carry any loads on the stairs. If you're expected to carry anything, ask for a pregnancy risk assessment as they shouldn't be asking you to do that xx

Oh and make sure it's well lit at all times xx

Shoes off is good advice! I am transgendered so I missed out on about 10 years of wearing heels regularly, don't even think about it now and can't believe the shoes I drive in sometimes....bf is in awe of my pedal control in stilettos!

it is bloody dangerous to drive in stilettos. Keep some decent shoes in the car. Even if you don't care what you hit, the rest of us do.

as for the OPs problem - you could always buy shoes you can walk in. Doesn't mean silly fluffy ballet pumps which are bad for feet anyway. A over T down the stairs for fashion is not a good look on the hospital notes. Or gravestone.
