help! I need to find a wedding outfit I can breastfeed in.

Wedding is early July and all being well I'm hoping I will still be exclusively bf. What am I going to wear? I'd normally buy a dress, but can't exactly hoick one up and not keen on wrap around styles. Purpose made bf clothes always look a bit frumpy.

Wedding will be fairly informal but the couple are involved in the fashion industry with lots of trendy friends. I feel a bit like a country bumpkin frump in comparison. Will be held in the country not city.

I'm a size 12/14 with a bit of a tummy, 5ft 5, brunette hair.

Budget of £100 ( less would be good)

I'm not going to have time to trawl around the shops, so help me please!

Hi scratch I'm looking for the same thing. My not-very-keen-on-breastfeeding-particularly-in-front-of-other-people pil's will be there so I'm pretty nervous!

I'm thinking of going for trousers or a skirt with a top that I can wear a vest top underneath. Haven't found anything that looks right yet though. I keep finding tops I like then realising they are cropped! Asos is full of these! I will let you know if I find anything though.

Hillfog · 22/04/2015 10:21

Look at Frugi. Breast feeding range on there includes nice tops and dresses. Depends how smart you want to be.

gallicgirl · 22/04/2015 10:27

I'm looking for something too, complicatedby baby only bring 5 weeks old so can't see me being pre-pregnancy weight by July.
I'm considering a shirt dress but need to try one on to make sure I don't look like a sack of spuds.

gallicgirl · 22/04/2015 10:32

I quite like this one from Dorothy Perkins but their quality can be poor sonmetimes.

It's a nightmare isn't it! I went to a wedding when DD was 4 months and finding something to wear was more stressful than carting her around for the whole day.

I fully second the top and skirt/trousers combo as a great idea, or even a button up jumpsuit if you're feeling brave? Perhaps something like this floral one from Cath Kidston (I've tried it on and is surprisingly forgiving): www.cathkidston.com/under-%C2%A3100/paradise-bunch-crepe-jumpsuit-1015249

Otherwise, how about something that zips up the front like this one:
www.asos.com/y-a-s/y-a-s-meg-dress-with-zip-front/prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4728623&clr=Red&SearchQuery=zip+front+fress&pgesize=35&pge=0&totalstyles=35&gridsize=3&gridrow=5&gridcolumn=1

Alternatively a shirt dress would be both practical (and quite forgiving if in the right shape...
I love this dress in the black and white spots or red version from &OtherStores: www.stories.com/gb/Ready-to-wear/Dresses/Dalmatian_Print_Shirt_Dress/582938-101967888.1
Or I also like this one from Cos:
www.cosstores.com/de/Women/Dresses/Printed_tunic_dress/46881-24079598.1#c-85346

Hope these help and you manage to find something!

Boob design do great breastfeeding dresses for around £80 (easy to use unlike others), see here shop.boobdesign.com/en/49/span-style-color-black-nursing-dresses-span . I have also used top and skirt combo in the same colour, looks just like a dress and can lift the top up!

theyoniwayisnorthwards · 22/04/2015 21:16

If you google 'dress like a mum' or look it up on Instagram #dresslikeamum there's a fashion blogger type woman who posts about trendy clothes to breastfeed in. She is breastfeeding and looks pretty cool, might be some ideas on her site?

MrsMarigold · 22/04/2015 21:26

Make the most of your boobs, wear a lowish cut dress with a bf vest underneath. Like this
dress with
vest underneath. Within budget.

What about something like this www.yummymummymaternity.co.uk/joulie-baby-shower--races-special-occasion-maternity--nursing-dress-16012-p.aspdress ?

They have quite a few dresses on there that would probably suit too.

YankeeOscarNovemberIndia · 22/04/2015 23:34

Ahhh! messed up that link sorry!

try again

hobNong · 23/04/2015 10:19

Sorry if this is a stupid question but when you wear a specially designed nursing top/dress do you have to wear a nursing bra with it? I usually wear a normal bra (and normal tops) and flip it down for feeding.

hobNong · 23/04/2015 10:29

The #dresslikeamum blog that northwood mentioned has a post on wedding outfits.

RaisinGirls · 23/04/2015 10:50

take a look at www.seraphine.com/nursing-clothes/nursing-dresses.html

I found their clothes amazing for looking and feeling special - and good range of feeding dresses in the link which would work for a semi formal wedding - depending on how you accessorise.

hobNong · 23/04/2015 21:29

Seraphine dress.

I like this one. Although looks like to feed you'd just pull it down and expose your breast which wouldn't go down well with my pils.
