Rosacea flare up- need help and perfect skin by Saturday !

I have really sensitive skin and the flushing type of rosacea, when it's not flushed it's actually really clear skin, no spots or anything, dry though.

I decided this was the year I would use sun cream every day - HUGE MISTAKEHmm

Really angry skin, flushed and hot to the touch, calamine helps a bit as does aloe juice from my plant but what else can I try to calm it down?

Anyone used Cetaphil? Or what about Skin Food by Weileda ( sp?)

I have until Saturday to get myself sorted as I have a fancy lunch to go to bloody typical

Any suggestions gratefully acceptedThanks

Have you tried the avene or LRP water spritzer thingys? I find they calm my skin during flare ups. Water based creams (such as avene) rather than oil based.

Want2bSupermum · 22/04/2015 06:18

I had a flare up and I will probably get one this week with all the stress. Luke warm bath with epson salts relaxes me and then I use Nizoral on my face. It gets rid of the burning.

Summertimemadness · 22/04/2015 07:47

I can't use a thing on my face during a flare up. Even water seems to aggravate it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 22/04/2015 12:38

Right, so I went into Boots and came out armed with Cetaphil for later when I've calmed down, cod liver capsules and Hydrocortisone cream ( used sparingly!)

So far, so good and thanks for all your suggestions.Smile

Let us know how you get on :-)

Annarose2014 · 22/04/2015 13:58

My friend has rosacea and finds that if she cuts out dairy it calms right down. She now uses oat milk instead or almond milk and you wouldn't believe the difference in her skin. She had the red bumps but they're all gone.

Can you get La Roche Posay Serozinc? I think its just come into pharmacies - you didnt used to be able to get it outside france. Anyway its zinc based and very healing.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 22/04/2015 14:05

I don't really have dairy anyway as I use soya, will look out for the LRP stuff but I haven't got on with their stuff in the past, it worked initially but then I reacted. Their Ciciplast is good though.

It's all feeling much more normal, I'm tempted to do an aspirin mask but feel I might be tempting fate and set myself off againGrin

Ice cubes wrapped in a sandwich bag rubbed over skin really works for me- makes an attack much shorter. I usually apply the ice pack until my face feels a bit achey with cold.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 22/04/2015 19:57

Good idea,thank you!

It's a bit late now as Saturday has been and gone, but a turmeric and honey face mask is meant to be good for calming rosacea.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/04/2015 14:08

No, tomorrow is the Saturday going outGrin

Do tell me more please! Doesn't turmeric leave your face bright yellow?Shock

I have rosacea and I now use Clinique redness solutions to help it which has made a MASSIVE difference! I also got Dark Spot Defense sunscreen from them and I really think that has made a big difference my skin seems a lot calmer for wearing it..... Unfortunately I drank a LOAD of prosecco and had a curry last night (clean living in this house!!!) Andy face is all red and angry today :-(

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/04/2015 15:32

I haven't got on with clinique's products in the past so I've avoided it so far but I'll look into it again.

YourBubzYourRulzHun · 24/04/2015 16:18

Oh ha ha!! I didn't look at when you started thread! No it doesn't leave you yellow. I tried it once and meant to keep it up as a weekly thing but I never do!

YourBubzYourRulzHun · 24/04/2015 16:19

Clinique pressed powder, the anti redness one is really good for calming the red too. It doesn't look like make up on your skin or give coverage like foundation but it's good for applying before or after make up. It's invisible but takes the redness away. I really need to buy some more.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/04/2015 16:20

How much of honey to turmeric? I'll try it this weekend so if it's terrible I have the weekend to recover Wink

YourBubzYourRulzHun · 24/04/2015 16:22

I can't remember, there's a few YouTube videos of it. I can't even recall how I found out about the turmeric now either. I made it too runny though so it's trial and error I think!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/04/2015 16:26

Thanks, I'll google and will let you know how I get onGrin

Hope your skin calms down for the weekend, but in the longer term I just wanted to recommend Purple Emu rosacea cream. It completely cleared up my rosacea over the course of a week, then I used it intermittently for about a year, before stopping altogether. This was ten years ago and I've never had a problem with my skin since.

YourBubzYourRulzHun · 24/04/2015 17:24

Yes do, hope it sorts it out. The flushing is the worst. I have normal looking skin most of the time and then suddenly it just flushes and looks awful and it puts me off going places incase I can't get to the loo's to top up make up. It dominates my life thinking about it but no one has any idea because I try and hide it as well as I can. I've started using Balance Me Rose Otto face oil the last few weeks to get more moisture into my skin to see if it helps to strengthen it.

YourBubzYourRulzHun · 24/04/2015 17:26

finn that's amazing. I will look it up, thanks.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/04/2015 17:35

Yourbub, I'm the same, terrible flushing.

Can't find that emu cream available in the UK?

Thanks, Finn ....

YourBubzYourRulzHun · 24/04/2015 17:49

There's a few bits on Amazon but I haven't looked properly.
