What can you tell me about my skin? (Pics included)

Following on from a thread I started about new products for my skin and some great advice I am using:

Cetaphil cleanser

Effeclar duo plus (only a teensy bit and mosly on my jaw/neck which is very spotty/scarred

Either la roche posay hydraphase or nivea q10 both spf20.

And then make up after a primer.

That's it. At night I switch to the nivea q10 night cream or cerave. Both have hyaluronic acid.

I feel like my skin is a bit more glowy once I get my make up on. The pics are of me fresh out the shower. Lots of scars and pitting.

Just wondering what people think of my skin and anything else I can do to help make it look better...

Have you tried bio oil? It worked wonders on my acne scars :-)

Have you tried any glycolic products to resurface the skin? Neostrata is good or skinceuticals

HexagonAlley · 20/04/2015 10:46

Thanks. I don't think I can use glycolic products in pregnancy?

And bio-oil made me break out!

Glycolic is okay during pregnancy, salicylic is not.

I think you have lovely skin actually- a bit of scarring doesn't spoil anything and it's certainly not the first thing I noticed. It looks very young and fresh to me (not that young is the ideal! but young skin is generally a pretty type of skin). If you're not getting new spots then surely you just need soap and water and moisturising SPF during the day?

I'm not just trying to be nice either btw, it's my first impression.

HexagonAlley · 21/04/2015 10:13

Thank you velour. I have never ever thought I have nice skin!

nabootique that website says salicylic is fine topically in small doses as is glycolic apparently

My understanding is that salycilic is a no-no generally, so if you were to buy a salycilic product from Bravura, for example, it would say do not use in pregnancy, but then they have to cover themselves. If you do use small amounts I don't suppose it is really harmful though. Glycolic is meant to be fine, however much you use, I think.

Have you tried a Clarisonic? I really love the Clarisonic and have noticed it having an amazing effect on skin of all ages that requires very gentle microdermabrasion.

HexagonAlley · 21/04/2015 11:52

bonsoir I've heard about it but wonder if it might be too much for my skin and cause a breakout. My face is mostly acne free now and I don't want to do anything to aggravate it.

It's incredibly gentle - start off with the sensitive brush and, if you find your skin can deal with it, you can use a slightly stronger one.

Face masks with green clay might help as well:
