I use a sponge. Have done for yrs. But yesterday I bought a brush. Just tried it. Blimey how time consuming!

Back to my trusted sponge!

I use a flat topped Sigma brush - it's fantastic. It depends what brush you are using - some are better than others.

Use my fingers to smooth over. Would like to use a brush, but the foundation brush I have just eats up all the product! Maybe it's just a rubbish brush? Any recommendations welcome Smile

the Bare Minerals brush that comes with their new liquid foundation is great. I didn't get on with the foundation but still use the brush. I put a small blob of foundation on the back of my hand then with a finger put a smear on both cheeks, chin, nose and forehead. Then buff buff buff with the brush and it all goes on so evenly and smoothly, takes about 30 secs. I'm a real convert to using a brush now!

It depends on the foundation.

Mac Face and Body is very runny, a brush is awful. I use fingers and sometimes a beauty blender type sponge afterwards.

DoubleWear I use fingers to apply and Real Techniques stippling brush to blend.

I have to say though I'm not a fan of flat foundation brushes. I takes ages to blend well and seems that I use more product, do it always looks more cakey?

Home - just googled, that does look really nice!

The secret is to not overload your brush to start with. You will be surprised how much product is left on your brush if you keep buffing. I use a small piece of tinfoil or the back of my hand to put a small amount of the foundation on then load up the brush and buff on starting from the middle working outwards. I use a very dense flat topped brush and the more you buff the better the blend. I then quickly go over certain areas - around bottom lashes and creases of nose using a beauty blender if needed.

I use the real techniques buffing brush, I dot small amounts over my face with my fingers and then I blend it out with the brush.

foundations/BB/tinted moisturisers etc benefit from different methods of application, some need the warmth of your fingers to fully blend in and melt in.

Like homebythesea putting foundation on with a brush takes me less than a minute too. I would say the key is good natural light, the right colour match for your skin tone, a thin layer (build up if you want to) and blending outwards all the way to the hairline, jawline and down the neck.

Oh and FGS, if you use tools, WASH THEM REGULARLY!

I use a brush for foundation if I'm going out, but for every day I use a CC cream and my fingers. I dont find I need to use a brush unless i'm going for a full coverage look, basically.

Sponges never seem to work well for me. I use BB powder and powder foundation and apply mostly with my fingers, think the slight warming effect helps.

Sponges seem to eat my foundation and I find it easier to wash a brush. Currently loving the RT domed foundation brush
