Talk to me about Saltwaters

I've only recently heard of these as I clearly live on another planet and am wondering whether to invest in a pair and, if so, what colour.

My style is quite boring classic although I do like bright colours, especially orange, red and lime green. I'm tall (5' 10") and a size 12-14 (currently 14 but will fix that in the next month or I'll have no summer clothes that fit).

I need something comfortable that I can wear equally well around Cornwall beaches and to walk 30 minutes across London between the station and my office twice a day. I keep smart shoes in the office so I don't need to be able to wear them all day at work!

Summer wear tends to be cropped trousers / jeans / classic shorts in denim, neutral, navy and red with plain (often bright) tops and cardigans, white stuff reversible skirts, the odd maxi dress and Boden knee length Jersey dresses (for work). Jewellery and scarves make it more interesting (I hope)

Are Saltwaters what I need?

I think they'll be perfect for you. I had a pair of bright yellow ones but found they didn't really work with the rest of my wardrobe, so think about that. They are super comfy, right from the start. Go for it

I love mine. I have the red and the silver and the silver go with far more things than the red do. I can walk for miles in them.

I have yellow, red, gold ones and have just bought the new multi-brown colourway which I'm not too sure about and may return. They fit my wide feet very well. I wear them with cropped trousers and dresses. The yellow and red ones in particular have attracted lots of compliments. I've worn them in the sea, in streams, at work, on the beach and around town. They've been through the washing machine twice and still look great. Love 'em!

Love mine but think I need to finally replace after 4 summers of hard labour. Go for it. In my ideal world I'd have 2 pairs one neutral and one bright.

I love mine, the only thing I would say is that they are very flat. Not thin soles necessarily (you don't feel every stone in the road), but flat and no padding. V comfy though, from the first time you put them on. No wearing in time required - mine are silver and I'm contemplating getting a patent pair, possibly red.

stripytees · 19/04/2015 13:20

I wouldn't really wear mine if I was planning to do a lot of walking. They are not uncomfortable but not especially comfortable, either. And don't ever make the mistake of using any sort of foot cream before wearing them - when I did, my feet somehow became really slippery on the leather insoles and slid around the sandals all day especially when walking downhill. Confused

lostlalaloopsy · 19/04/2015 13:23

I got my first pair last week, and love them. I got red ones and they seem to go with everything ie skinny jeans, cropped trousers.

I am already thinking of getting the blue pair!

KissyBoo · 19/04/2015 16:07

This is one of those things on here that is raved about that I just don't get. They are like children's sandals. Totally grim lentil weaver efforts.

shins · 19/04/2015 20:53

Just got my first pair in red, love love love them. I agree they're rather thin and flat but I can still walk a lot in them. They just cheer me up to look at them, maybe it does remind me of being a little girl in the 70s but that's ok! I want a silver pair now.
