Post Baby (7 weeks) Wedding Outfit. Gah!

Can anyone help me as I'm starting to panic...

My brother is getting married in a few weeks and I have a teeny, tiny baby who will be about 7 weeks by then. He's very cute (the baby, not my brother) but has left my body ravaged. I had an ELCS so have no stomach muscles to speak of (breathing in has no effect on my tummy whatsoever). My boobs are the size of small mountains (at least a 34G) and I'm currently expressing twice daily so bras are a bit tricky as I've had some problems with blockages etc.

I'm not likely to change shape much in the next few weeks so would describe myself as a large size 14 with no waist and big boobs. Thighs not amazing either. What a beauty!

Any ideas on what I could go for? I'm pretty fashion conscious and I generally love to shop but feel like I could tip myself into a right downward spiral if I hit the shops and try the wrong things and look awful.

I have a Pinterest page of things I've seen and loved here

Hi, I was in this, exact situation 4 years ago. my son was 6 weeks old, and my body was a mess after the cs. shopping for a dress at that point was a horrible experience. I kept it simple and went for a maxi dress in a heavy jersey material, and focused on nice accessories - good bag, shoes, earrings and a wrap. I got my hair and makeup done, and a spray tan too. there was no hiding the mummy tummy but I spent most of the day cuddling my son so he sort of covered it!! enjoy the wedding!!

I think we have really similar taste, I love all of those! I really like that floaty coast one, think that would work well. You say you're expressing, will you need bf access? There are a couple of nice ones in oasis with a crossover front if so.

Thanks for the replies and ideas. I won't need BF access but will check out the Oasis ones anyway - it's my go to shop as generally the fit is good for me.

I'm just paranoid about not fitting into things and it's that kind of demoralising shopping trip that would send me over the hormonal edge! My whole family are really excited about the wedding and have been planning outfits for months and I've felt a bit left out.

Good idea about focussing on accessories too. I do have a maxi dress which fits nicely so might take that with us as a reserve in case I need a change mid wedding!

I know what you mean. Perhaps before you go it would make sense to try on different clothes you currently own, with or without control pants, to make sure you know what size you really are - hopefully that would avoid any too-small upset in the shops.

Speaking of control pants, would they make you feel more confident?

Generally if I'm not feeling body confident I'd go for something chiffony rather than clingy (jersey etc), clean shape so a-line and no ruffles or fussy bits, and a skinny belt always helps me feel more together. Don't look in the mirror until you're fully done up and standing tall, and if you like what you see you can pose some more. Nothing worse than catching yourself in the mirror half bent over, half naked and a bit pink from the hot changing room.

That's really good advice. I'll have a try on this week as need to get rid of some maternity wear anyway. And yes to control pants - am going to invest!
