Awkward shopping list - I need different shape tops in the same fabric

I have to buy tops for the ladies who work with me

Ideally I need:
A kaftan/tunic with sleeves
Something a bit more fitted
Something without sleeves

I was looking in next & they had a short sleeves fitted top & a kaftan type thing but the kaften had sequins on it so that didn't work

here & here

Any ideas where I should look (ideally in Purple, blues or greens)?

What material is it that you're looking for?
Depending on where you work, it might be easier to order through a works uniform catalogue? That'd be the easiest for different designs in the same fabric.

www.salonweardirect.co.uk is a good one

We generally wear something more high street like than workwear

But thanks

Kettlewell colours does different clothes in a range of colours.

What about finding dress/top patterns, choosing material and getting them made up? Might cost a little more initially but you'd get exactly what you wanted.

Why not post in the Sewing topic and see if there are any local MNers who might like the work?

Nomads? They normally have a few tops in the same fabric.

Alternatively, buy several of one thing (i.e. the tunic) and then get a dressmaker to cut them down / alter them to the other styles you need. You could get the clothes made to order but I don't expect that will be cheap unless you have a friend with a sewing machine.

Are there any practicalities - will they be worn/washed a lot or need to have new ones got for new employees?

RaisingSteam · 18/04/2015 22:06

KatyMac just realised it was you. You do have a sewing machine don't you?

How about different styles but all the same colour of T shirts and get them all printed?

No time - I have 3 chairs waiting to be recovered, a jump suit to create, a quilt cover to revamp, 2 frozen cloaks to make, and 10 or 12 projects to start

Never mind the kitchen tiling (don't want to do that), my tax return (ditto), house cleaning, ironing, etc Wink

oh dear!

RaisingSteam · 18/04/2015 22:41

I have similar list right down to the kitchen tiling Grin

Uniqlo have some tunic (ie short) dresses and long sleeve breton-type shirts in the same stripe pattern, you could shorten sleeves on one of the tops quite easily?

top and dress

Probably more doubles but couldn't see them.

Asda have this in 4 styles

So that's a start

not keen on horizontal stripes (but I liked the prices)
