White jeans that aren't see through?

KanyesVest · 17/04/2015 17:11

I tried on 8 pairs of white jeans today and you could see my breakfast pants in all of them. I even tried sizing up. My last hope is Next relaxed skinnies, but getting to a store to try them is a pain so I won't bother if anyone else has found them on the thin side.

What knickers are you wearing? If you wear nude ones they don't show through.

KanyesVest · 17/04/2015 18:34

I know nude knickers don't show, but you can see where the knickers stop in most of them! And in 6 of them I could very clearly see the lining of the front pockets. Confused

Boden's have nude pockets Smile

frankietwospots · 17/04/2015 23:26

Boden's super skinny are very good - no show through - but for me, too bright white a la Liz Hurley. The Next ones are brilliant - off-white, good quality, perfect.

CointreauVersial · 17/04/2015 23:50

I bought some from Uniqlo - excellent thick denim - no show at all.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 18/04/2015 06:02

Boden super skinny here. I have 2 pairs. Fabulous.

Wonkyparsnip · 18/04/2015 06:10

I got a good pair from and m&s that were quite thick. Also red pants are way better than nude for not being seen through white, only fashion tip I have!

ElizabethHoover · 18/04/2015 07:39

Top shop baxters

hippospot · 18/04/2015 08:26

Mine are a couple of years old but they are good - from Esprit.

They have "fake" front pockets so there is no pocket to show through.

I wear nude VPL-free M&S knickers, you can't see them at all through the denim.

KanyesVest · 18/04/2015 09:04

Thanks for the suggestions. The last pair of m&S jeans I got weren't great, so I had dismissed them, but I can get to a shopping centre with Next and M&S for a look. I'm not in the UK, so I'll save online ordering faff returns from Boden and Uniqlo until I've tried the others.

Then I'll get onto the challenge of actually invisible pants. I tried 5 different pairs under a dress last week and every one of them could be seen somewhere Angry

I wear white jeans a lot, MiH, J Brand and Denim&Supply use high quality thick denim. My MiH have faux front pockets so no bulk there. And yes I can wear black or patterned knickers with these.

FrugalFashionista · 18/04/2015 09:11

Esprit basics tend to be good quality too, but always try them on first. And for more expensive denim brands, check Outnet and Yoox. Many of my best pairs are from them, I never pay full price.

Sonotkylie · 18/04/2015 10:22

I have a really good pair from Tesco last year ... No I didn't believe it either! Not my normal shop at all. I feel your pain but its worth it in July when you have the perfect pair and all the thin ones are left in the shops. It is just trial and error I think - sorry

ElizabethHoover · 18/04/2015 10:45

those brands not so frugal....

burnishedsilver · 18/04/2015 10:53

I have a good pair from the Gap. They are last year's so I can't say for sure if this year's are the same but they're worth trying.

FrugalFashionista · 18/04/2015 11:09

Elizabeth it's often frugal to buy quality. This is my third summer with the MiH jeans, worn nearly every day during the warm season, original purchase price was around 50€. And if you like thick denim, the Ralph Lauren diffusion line Denim&Supply is excellent value and often found on sale.

I've really liked a pair of army-green Gap jeans I bought in November and wore constantly all winter, my only gripe is that they have faded to a pale khaki, but their offerings are definitely worth checking out.

ElizabethHoover · 18/04/2015 11:12

meh - my top shop ones last too.
Tbh i find styles change so fast anyway.

noddyholder · 18/04/2015 11:16

I don't think expensive jeans are better and I have had them. They are defnitely one of the emperors new clothes things once you pass about 50/60 quid

noddyholder · 18/04/2015 11:17

Once you go past about 50 quid I think you are overpaying for jeans Emperors new clothes a bit like bags!

noddyholder · 18/04/2015 11:17

not sure what happened there my computer froze for a few mins Sorry!

KanyesVest · 18/04/2015 13:17

Next jeggings and relaxed skinnies are also see through. I wore my nude pants to try them and could see the skin of my belly where the pants stopped. I sized up, no difference. I even tried on regular denim versions which fit perfectly, so my body hasn't mutated. Too frustrated to drag the children into M&S afterwards, will try during the week. Think I've found an esprit concession with some so I'll get in there too. I wonder does mango have any?

How strange that I just read your last comment back, I was about to comment with this link of some jeans from Mango!
I had some last Summer and don't remember them being see through. They seemed like actual denim rather than the mix of Lycra that a lot of brands mix their denim with now (which I think contributes to them being see through).
