My lips have been red and sore like this for about 4 weeks now. I've tried lip balm, blistex, sudocream, metanium, coconut, tamanu, pawpaw, anti fungal cream from the doctor and even steroid/antibiotic cream from the hospital. Nothing is working.
Any body got any ideas? It's really really getting me down. I've even taken anti histamines incase it's an allergy.

Haven't read other replies but I would try the blandest stuff you can... eg 100% pure shea butter or 100% coconut oil. Hope you feel better soon.

When my ds had this, the best thing I tried was calamine cream (the cream, not the lotion, as the lotion is drying).

Oops, re coconut.
Maybe try nothing at all (if it's an allergy the dryness should eventually go when exposure ceases)? Avoid your mouth area with creams, makeup, and stop nail polish and handcreams. Wash hands with a mild unscented soap. Keep on with your antihistamine and drink water to hydrate lips from inside out. Maybe add in a vitamin and mineral supplement in case you have deficiencies; fish oil and flaxseed oil (coldpressed) supplements are great for hydrating from the inside out.

Hi All,
Well in the last couple of weeks I've tried the La Roche Posay cream and the Eucerin, both of which felt nice but didn't clear up the redness. I do take loads of supplements especially B vitamins and I had a blood test to see if I was deficient in anything and I wasn't.

When I went back to the hospital I asked about the Protopic as recommended by Awks. I have now used it for 2 days and it is like magic!!! I still have a slight 'ring' around my mouth but it is so so so much better. The only downside is that it says I should use it every night for 4 weeks and to AVOID ALCOHOL!!!! How is this even possible?

Actually a month off booze will probably do me good and tbh I'll try anything to clear this up. Thank you all so much for your advice and recommendations. Fingers crossed this will be the one that works, but I do have a drawer full of nice creams to use for other occasions! Flowers

My da gets lips like this in winter. We've tried everything and as a last resort I put on pure aloe Vera. It worked a treat. It's very healing and took redness down immediately. Either buy from health food shop or beauty salon or snap a leaf off an aloe plant.
