Okay mumsnet, I start a new job next week, first time in a managerial position and trying to look the part. My hair has been growing for about two years and is down to boob level, however its either straight and down, or a pleated side pony with a flower clip.

I need some super duper easy peasy completely simple step by step up do styles that look professional and don't take ten hours.

This is how terrible I am. Attempted a high bun so tied hair up in high pony. Twisted it and wrapped it around on itself. Attempted to pin it in place, fell out. Repeat another ten times and give up.

Have a look at A Cup of Jo blog, she has a section with really great hair tutorials

My default, which looks groovy and professional (people stop me in the street to ask how I do it) is a 40s/edwardian roll inspired thing. Can;t remember the name…...

pull hair into tight high ponytail. stick your fingers between head and hairband. pull the hair up and tuck it all into the gap. pin it if you need to. easy peasy. stays all day. you can put a roll of foam in if you want more oomph but that needs a clip or pinning.

Get thee to a Youtube tutorial. There is so much you can do with such long hair, you are lucky. Enjoy experimenting!

Yep, get to YouTube. The Edwardian inspired do is called the Gibson Tuck I think.

TheRealMaryMillington · 15/04/2015 20:05

Gibson tuck, that's the one.

So easy, can be as neat or fuzzy as you want. no gear required but can be accessorised.

I will look up some of these other suggestions too, thank you ( never had long hair until 2 years ago)
