Shoes (or not?) for 12 month old?

Right, I'm a bit baffled by the types shoes available, and which (if any) DD should be wearing.

Up until now she has really only worn thick booties (for winter warmth) and some soft leather slipper type ones despite having numerous pairs of pretty little baby shoes in the cupboard but they are nearly outgrown now so I need to think about replacing.

She cruises the furniture and walks with her push along walker one handed and can stand steadily for a short period, but doesn't yet walk completely unaided. She does like to stand and will be going out in the garden more as the weather improves.

Should I be getting "crawlers" as she isn't quite walking yet? "first walkers"? or more of the soft slipper ones?

Id only bother with something soft and slipper like if her feet need keeping warm. The best at the moment is being barefoot. Some shops do socks with rubber bits on the sole so if you have wooden floors etc. But she doesnt need shoes at all until she is competently and confidently walking.

Barefoot is best.
If you really need something for outside, only use when walking outside and I would get cruisers, they have very flexible soles.
Proper walking shoes are not recommended for a baby that can't walk properly as soles are too thick to feel the ground and they are too rid to crawl in

Too rigid to crawl in

My babies who were cruising/early walking in spring and summer just had the soft leather slipper type shoes. like this

For the two who were starting to walk in autumn/winter I bought the softer soled cruiser type shoes. like these

I also used the cruisers as first shoes as long as I could once they could properly walk because they were so light and flexible.

Thanks all. I thought the walker ones seemed a bit hard. We do have some of the nonslip socks for grandparents' house as they have slippy floors

Notso DD's slipper ones are just like those. Were they OK outside in them?

I was told shoes when they've been walking independently for 6 weeks.

I had a supply of cheap, rubber soles socks for outside that could be binned if they got too mucky.

Daisy Roots or Inch Blue shoes as linked above are perfect for walking outside, for the amount of walking she will be doing at this stage. Enough of a sole to protect but not enough to restrict.

DS2's first actual shoes were Bobux which are very good and I see they do an explorer range for first steps www.bobux.co.uk/baby/xplorer if you fancy a look? Might be good for beach, rough ground etc as she gets her balance.

Jazzle37 I found them great for everything except very wet ground/mud/puddles.
