Has anyone done their own Brazilian blow dry/long term straightening thing?

I have A LOT of hair. Hairdressers can never get over how much. It's currently just below my chin. It's naturally frizzy. Not quite curly (it will curl with lots of product and help). I straighten it. It looks crap pinned or tied back.

It drives me mad. I wash it every 2-3 days, but even then it's a ballache to get dry and straight. I'd love it a bit longer again, but can't face the hours of straightening or preparation. My hairdresser suggested a long term, perm like straightening thing. But it's £120+ and lasts max of 4 months. We just don't have that kind of money.

Has anyone done something similar themselves at home?

Have you tried a bbh to smooth rather than straighten it?

No, mainly as it is called big hair, so assumed it added volume. Which I definitely don't need!

I have the Brazilian wotsit from Amazon. Do I need to be able to blow dry my hair straight like a hairdresser? Or just sort of straight?

Sort of straight is fine. The main thing is to really, really go for it with the straighteners. Woman who did it for me said she went over each bit 30 times, and each bit is not a huge chunk of hair, rather a thin bit.

She does it with two hair straighteners (one in each hand, alternating them on the hair) and it still takes ages for me, I have loads of hair!
