I need work clothes to hide a fat tum!

Rather than losing the baby weight after giving birth to dc3 last year I have put it on! I'm 5'9" and size 16. Especially conscious of my fat stomach.

Work wear is smart casual, I tend to wear skirt/trousers with blouse/jumper. I feel like a frump. Dresses tend to be difficult because I'm tall & they rarely seem long enough. I bought a lovely black and white dress from Debenhams when I first returned to work, which is ruched across the middle but it is more of a winter dress, I need something suitable for Spring now.

Has anyone got any ideas? I'm 36 but feel like a fat old woman.

Jackets are your friend for hiding a big tummy. If smart casual, try jersey blazers?

Watching with interest. ..

Can I lurk here too.

I am a size 16 and always feel like a scruff bag.

Thanks Domesticslattern. What would I put a blazer with? The outfits I like just look awful on a size 16 or look best with high heels which I cant wear eg. skinny jeans/cigarette pants with blazer or A line midi dresses

I've got a fab jersey blazer that randomly came from Primark. I've worn it to death with dresses and a drapey scarf to try to hide my tummy but it's gone bobbly now :-( need a new one!

ooh thanks Mayfridaycomequickly! I'll have a trip to Primark next week. I'm thinking maybe I could wear my black trousers with a plain top and a blazer as a starting point. I have no idea about accessories like scarves tbh, maybe if I get the basics sorted I can work on the extras Grin

I need this advice too! Admittedly there is a teeny tiny baby in there but a huge amount of flab on top and it is too early to tell.
Thanks op!

I am 5 foot 7 and size 16 with a fat tummy. I tend to wear dresses with three quarter length sleeves, v necks, slightly high waist bands and ruching over the tummy. But from more expensive shops that have linings or thicker fabric to hide lines. I bought M and S control granny pants and control slips as well after I had Ds as I felt fat and frumpy next to other women at work. Other advantage is no ironing as they drip dry, single garment to sling on in the morning and good for most workplaces in terms of temp. Skip the slip and shorter sleeves for summer. Tailored jacket for winter....
