Any hairdressers can advise?

Hi all
I'm in a predicament and need some impartial advice which I appreciate may be hard without actually seeing me.
My MIL is a hairdresser. Had her own salon and everything years ago. Now mobile but only for her old clients, and I mean old. None under 60.
for the last few years she has done my hair, its awkward to not get her to as she huffs but I never get quite what I want.

I recently treated myself and had my long hair cut into a pixie cut at a salon. Im finding it hard to get used to styling it but I love it. Today in a conversation MIL described it as a mess (creating lots of 6 months pregnant tears).

It is currently very dark brown but Ive always been blonde in the past, so Ive asked her to bleach it for me. She says she will but to remember it will be rusty for the first few times because its so dark. I dont believe it would be if i got it done at a salon. Am I wrong?

Pregnancy hormones are making this seem like a huge deal and I feel horribly fat and ugly so could really do with a boost

I'm sure your hair is lovely but go get yourself a trim in a salon to make yourself feel better. Pixie haircuts are lovely but need regularly cropping.

I don't think that bleaching hair in pregnancy is a good idea but maybe someone will come along with some advice on organic options.

Good luck!

Bleaching in pregnancy usntva good idea, particularly if it will take multiple goes. Agree a pixie takes work and styling.

Oh. Why isnt is good to bleach hair when pregnant? Everything I can find says the chemical levels need to be much higher to cause any damage.

My idea would be to just get it done once but done right, but Im not a hairdresser so dont understand if this is possible

My hairdresser wouldn't dye my hair when I was pregnant he used foils do it didn't touch my scalp - said he wouldn't let his wife colour her hair either when she was pregnant. It's probably ok but you could experience a reaction even if you'd previously used dye ok.

Can you post a pic? I think when you're pregnant perspective on how you look can go out the window!!

You could end up rusty OP
I went from black to blonde last summer and I had to have it a bit blondey/rusty at first. The stylist explained that stripping my hair was a tough process and yes she could continue the lightening to get to the colour I wanted it to be but she couldn't guarantee the state my hair would be in once she'd got there. She kept a close eye on it throughout the process and we stopped as my hair showed signs of getting frazzled.
The next time she got it to where I wanted. I also have a pixie so the dryness wasn't too much of a problem for me as I get it cut every few weeks.

I'm not a hairdresser but I think the thing about colouring while pregnant isn't only do with if it's dangerous, it may be that the hair/scalp is also affected by pregnancy hormones and can mess with colour outcome and put you more at risk of reactions. I read that so not sure if it's fact.
