Is is still possible to get 'fluid' foundation?

Some years ago I used to buy a fluid, slightly watery, foundation made by Clinique I think. They have discontinued it but does anyone here know if another manufacturer makes anything similar?

The reason I like it was that it was great for warm weather and I remember having to shake it up before use because it would separate out in the bottle (hoping to jog someone's memory!).

Tx

Not sure about the Clinique one, but I have just started using benefit oxygen wow- it's quite runny though it doesn't seem to separate. Powder and mousse type ones seem to make my skin really dry. Hth

SnotQueen · 08/04/2015 16:09

Was coming on to say that Benefit one is quite runny.

Oh yes that Clinique one in the 90s, was it called superfit or something? if memory serves it was oil free?

Foundation technology has improved HUGELY, so I would say look for something new rather than harking back (though I do understand, I actually fantasise about discontinued lipsticks). What finish are you looking for, what level of coverage, what's your skin type?

Do you live near a big department store where you can go and try various things? many counters will give you samples to try for a few days before you buy. For foundation Mac, Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Dior, Giorgio Armani and Chantecaille would be on my list to try (last two rather ££). I think Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua will be close to what you're looking for - very fluid, slightly matte / powdery feel, coverage holds well in warm weather and feels weightless.

Be aware that tinted moisturiser, BB cream and CC cream might all serve your purpose - they're just liquid make up products with different levels of coverage. So keep an open mind.

Sounds like Armani Maestro might be what you're after.

MagicCarpet · 08/04/2015 16:25

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua sounds just the job for you. I love it for summer. That too needs a shake...

WeAreEternal · 08/04/2015 16:26

I use maybelline dream flawless nude, it has a dropper and is a thin liquid, it's great and gives lovely coverage.

Thanks for your replies.

I take your point, Rootypig, about modern products, but my skin is inclined to just leave a medium or heavy cream sitting unabsorbed on the surface in an increasingly orange slick because of my oily skin.

The Clinique Superfit, as I think you have correctly identified it, did not feel heavy or cloying. Btw, I moisturise about 15 mins before applying foundation.

Was the Clinique one called Gentle Light make up? I loved that stuff and they discontinued it then brought it back due to customer demand and later discontinued it again. I moved onto the Almost Make up which was popular and they discontinued that. I am slowly giving up on Clinique as they just discontinue their good products.

Urban decay naked foundation is quite watery

chipsandpeas · 08/04/2015 19:10

mac face and body foundation is watery, but its amazing imo you can put it straight on then build up natural looking coverage on the areas you need it

rootypig · 08/04/2015 21:04

Freda heavier foundations are less common now, even the compacts are very fine and light. I'd start at Chanel for Vitalumeire Aqua and go from there. Good luck! Smile

In my opinion I found Dior Star quite watery/runny, although others have said they didn't. I suppose it depends on your skin type and coverage you're looking for. I was/am looking for full coverage and a slightly thicker but creamy consistency, and the Dior Star didn't quite do it for me. I always get testers, so like someone else said, get some testers of a few different ones mentioned on here. Good luck!

daimbardiva · 08/04/2015 21:31

I am using No 7 perfectly light (or somehting similar)at the moment. It's liquid - i really like it

tethersend · 08/04/2015 22:53

You need make up forever face and body. It's literally like water, but feels like a second skin. Buildable coverage. The one I have is a little too dark for me, so am waiting for a slight summer tan to use it.

tethersend · 08/04/2015 22:57

Hardy to get hold of in the UK though.

Fabulassie · 08/04/2015 23:06

The Dior Airflash - the one you spray - is very thin and watery. The directions that come with it say to spray it on your face, but everyone buffs it on with a brush. It really is amazing stuff - fantastic coverage but it feels so sheer. I found out about it from a GossMakeupArtist video.

loreal true match is liquid :)

gonegrey56 · 09/04/2015 06:29

Try YSL Fusion Ink. Best ever foundation I think. Liquid that you can "layer".
Get a sample, great dinky bottles (which are perfect for travel!)
