Patchy, dry, spotty skin

My skin looks old, tired and sad. I don't have many wrinkles, just a few fine lines under my eyes, but my actual skin looks awful.

I always have dry patches. It's discoloured and I have spots.

I am wondering is there any sort of professional treatment to restore a bloom? I am a desperate woman!

Hot cloth cleansing! A nice gentle exfoliation will sort out the dry patches and help with the spots too. What is your skin type normally, dry patches aside? A gentle acid toner will help as well. I can recommend some products if you let me know your skin type. Mine skin had similar issues before I started a good routine. Mine is/was combination.

Mines prone to dryness but I also get spotty when run down - which with a 1 year old is permanently! Grin

Okay. I'd try out a new routine but with some cheap but good stuff in case it's not for you. Superdrug Natural Radiance hot cloth cleanser - this is usually included in some sort of offer. It comes with a muslin cloth, which I quite like, but you might prefer a flannel. Get a mild acid toner - REN and Bravura do good ones that don't cost the earth, but it is a bit of a spendy step. It'll dissolve dead skin cells gently and keep you smooth. It will also help with spots. I'd also get a facial oil and give your face a good massage nightly with it. This will help get you glowing and heal old spot marks. Rosehip oil is good for spot prone skin, I find. A nice budget buy it the Boots Botanics one.

Ooh, yes, Liquid Gold! I Gold-ed last night because I got in late and couldn't be bothered to do my full routine (you don't use anything after applying it) Grin

After I had my wee one I discovered I was lactose intolerant and cut out all dairy, it improved my skin no end with regards to pores and spots. Try it for a week and see if it helps I only took a couple of days to see an improvement.

I second the REN suggestion - try the microdermabrasion mask (it's orange, can't remember the exact name). The exfoliator and moisturisers (Rosa Centifolia) are excellent.

I've heard really good things about the body shop vit e range and they were doing a very good offer today so I just bought it all ooops.

I highly recommend a face oil. My fave is kiehls midnight recovery. Pricy, but will last you over a year and it really makes all the difference. I use mine at night alone, or under a cream and mix a little in the morning with my day cream. My skin gets so dry patchy and spotty when I don't use it.
