I've burnt the top of my head...

This happens every year. Not usually in April, mind. I have fine hair and a centre parting and red is not a good look. So I need a sun hat? Scarf? Not sure, but what will look vaguely nice and not peasant-y? Any ideas? Made a little more complicated by the fact I have a small head so sun hats from, say, Accessorize are too big and flap around on my head and blow away in a breeze... any help?

use a scalp sunspray maybe?

MangoJuggler · 07/04/2015 23:55

You need a jaunty cotton baker boy type hat

I'm worried that scalp sprays might overload my already fine hair though - it's a fine line between it's normal state and greasy looking unfortunately, unless anyone can recommend a really non-greasy one. Thanks Mango - I'll have a look for a baker boy style hat!

I have exactly the same problem, but I don´t want to wear a hat. Get a lip sunblock, the type used for skiing. Comes as a lipstick bullet and is solid. Run it along your parting. No greasy mess and total sunblock. Works a treat.

If you can´t find one in the pharmacies, real sports shops will have them.

Ooh, I'll try that shortcouture, thanks. I did try a spray yesterday - said non-greasy - made my hair disgusting.

I have the same problem and yes scalp sprays always make my hair horribly greasy.

Best solution I have found is a solid lipstick shaped sun cream stick (think lipstick shaped). I currently have a Sainsburys own one which is factor 50, I run it along my parting and rub it in with my finger tip. It's not asolved the problem completely but it does help as my head always burn really badly along my parting. If I put it on carefully I can avoid my hair so it doesnt go greasy.

I get this! I take a tiny section of my hair at the front and make a little plait, like half up half down but only tiny so it's basically down but quiffed at the front and the plait covers the parting. A cute look for summer and keeps hair out of your face too.

Great description I know Grin

Calypso dry oil spray is great for your head and doesn't make your hair greasy. It's about £2.99 from home bargains. Actually love this sunscreen, won't use anything else now x

Thanks again. Cute hairstyle - I'm currently growing out a fringe but will give that a go when it's longer.

Humm.... Why don't you stay out of the sun!?

Or carry a small parasol. I carry a silver SPF one as I can't stand the gloppy ness of a creme. Also it means I don't have to coat my neck and my ears, my chest and through my hair.

I always stand where there is shade, and cross the street to stand in shade when I'm out and about.

It's not difficult to find shade anywhere, trees, awnings, lampposts, or a small parasol(!) unless you're in the kalahari or the outback, and even then a scarf or a small parasol can work can suffice.

Did I mention a small parasol can be very useful ?

Great idea, shortcouture, I'll try the lip balm idea Smile

BallroomWithNoBalls · 15/04/2015 14:40

I'd personally feel a bit of a twit carrying a parasol Grin
