Looking for summer stuff for my 91st centile ds, who was 4 in Jan.

I've never shopped with them before, but received a catalogue today and their website seems good and they have some great discounts at the moment.

Does anyone rate them? And should I be buying age 4 or 5 for my slightly chunky/solid lad?

Any thoughts appreciated - thanks Smile

DD2 is on the chunky side and I have to say I always buy a size up for her. The quality and design of the clothing is really good. And you do get free returns so if something turns out to be the wrong size they do a free exchange.

Their stuff is usually pretty good- winter coats brilliant.

Size up and keep an eye out for discount codes, there's always loads about.

Shenanagins · 07/04/2015 22:14

I have found the quality really good, sizing is fine for my average lo so you will probably want to size up.

I get quite a few clothes for the dc from there, especially trousers which I find fit well as they do a variety of cuts and have adjustable waists.

Size wise the tops seems to come up quite small, trousers for my dc are about true to age (so ds1 is just turned 6 and is generally in age 6 for trousers and age 6-7 or even 8 for tops) both my dc are low-mid centile so I would say size up.

Quality wise I think the trousers/shorts better than the tops (which can shrink slightly in the wash) I'm v happy with the trousers/shorts, they last well.

I buy a lot from Vertbaudet. Both my kids are very slight build and I find their trousers are great for skinny kids. However, DD struggled to get into the slim fit jeans this season so I do think they are quite narrow and would suggest regular fit or adjustable waists for bottoms.

I usually size up for tops as they can be a little on the short side.

Quality is usually really good and they wash well. Always buy on a deal or in the sale!!

I haven't bought for a while, because I got so fed up with sizing.

They say don't buy for age but for height, so I would buy a set (eg matching top and trousers) in eg size 3-4, which was the height of my dd.

The top would be on the skinny side, but with too long arms, and the bottoms would be a whole size too large, mostly in length, so couldn't wear them together.

Lovely stuff, lovely designs, good quality, rubbish sizing.

Quality is good and sizing mostly fine for my very slim DS so I would size up. They do some trousers in different width fittings too. I love their narrow fit trousers for my skinny boy.

Dd is 4 1/2 and in a 6-7 coat - she's very very very tall though and a bit chunky

Ds is 8 and I got him a 9-10 following above principle and I could have fitted 2 of him in it....

306235388 · 07/04/2015 22:39

And yes, some of the tops are quite short in the back ime.

SlinkyB · 07/04/2015 22:41

Thanks for all your help! Am now worried that I'll have a problem if I get one of their top and shorts sets, as I'd say ds is chunkier on top. Hmm. Think I'll order a few age 5 bits and see. Good to know they do free returns/exchanges.

I got excited earlier as have a code for £15 off when you spend £29, but didn't realise it's only valid on full-price items. Think it'll be cheaper for me to get some 50% off stuff initially.

Will Google discount codes before checking out, like I do for anywhere.

Definitely size up, my small 2yr old is usually in 3-4 with them, plus as a lot are cotton they tend to shrink a bit in first wash.

gorgeous clothes, slightly quirky and we always get lots of compliments. Most of the time the quality is ace, bur I've started to notice some of the beautiful knitwear is bobbling quite a bit, could be my crap bung-it-all-in style of washing though!

gillyweed · 07/04/2015 22:50

Sorry meant to say, holdout; they always have great sales and vouchers if you sign up. I NEVER pay full price!

The slim version of the trousers are very slim - too narrow in the hips for my lanky ds.
Cut is great and fabric generally good. Had a problem with going through the knees on some of the tough lined trousers, after only a month or two - but then he goes through the knees on everything! The canvas extra tough ones have stood the test of time though!
