Aggggh - I am a size 28a/b and can't find anywhere in the UK that sells my size. Does anybody know a shop which sells this size?

The only shops in know of that do 28s are bravissimo and the others who start at a D cup. I think I've seen some say John Lewis does a 28C but I'm sorry that's no help to you.

I'm assuming that you don't have much breast tissue? Would you be comfortable enough in a non padded, non wired, triangle type bra? I'll try to find a link to the sort of thing I mean.

Debenhams and Marks and Spencer sell bras 28 a and b sized bras. Not a huge selection but worth a look. I'm a 28-30 C and have the same problem

Aridane · 07/04/2015 13:34

Was going to suggest Bravissimo - but then saw the cup size. M&S and John Lewis do the sizes you're looking for - also try girls' first bras etc.

Ebay also indicates various bras of that size - commercial sellers, not used bras!

Am surprised at how uncommon this size is, especially as it's quite a common back size for slim people.

TheBuskersDog · 07/04/2015 13:42

This size is uncommon, as are most a cups, because it means you only measure 1 inch bigger around the fullest part of your breasts than you do underneath them.

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/04/2015 15:32

John Lewis, Marks and Spencer and debenhams all do them. There is also Damaris/Mimi Holliday for more luxurious items

Cherryapple1 · 07/04/2015 15:36

what are your actual measurements under bust and at the fullest part when you lean forward?

Thanks for all the replies! I looked on m+s website today but they start at size 30 unledd you're buying a teen bra and i don't want to look like jailbait! Bizarrely there are a few places which sell 28 bands but only on big cup sizes like bravissimo. I can't find smaller ones!
cherryapple I'm 28 Under bust and 30across the middle. I'd always worn a 32aa but recently read the bra guru website which said i should be 28b...

hoppity that's a beautiful bra but i don't think I'm ready to abandon my padding!

Dd used to get 38b from John Lewis. They were teen sizes but are nice.

Bouncey · 07/04/2015 19:51

I'm also a size 28. Try Panache or Freya. Figleaves have a good selection of smaller back sizes and it's worth checking out eBay. As it's a fairly unusual size you'll find lots of previous season bargains - brand new but end of lines, so with massive discounts.

ImCatbug · 07/04/2015 19:59

Brastop are great, you can search for bras based on size and they have loads of uncommon sizes!

StatisticallyChallenged · 07/04/2015 21:09

That would be around a 28B op - the john lewis website is quite useful as you can just put "28b" in the main search box

Eastpoint · 07/04/2015 21:11

Figleaves have a really wide choice of sizes, have a look. I was really disappointed in Peter Jones at the weekend, their assistant suggested Figleaves. Some brands come up much bigger than others, I think Fantasie come up big in the band.

clutterfly · 07/04/2015 21:13

I've just ordered 1 to try from john Lewis that is 28". Bravissimo gave me great online advice. I'm currently wearing a size 32a and they advised I am probably more likely a 28d. They don't do this size themselves or I would have ordered from them. I'm hoping the JL one will fit and I won't feel that I'm being strangled around my chest!

wonkylegs · 07/04/2015 21:19

Try www.daintylady.co.uk
or www.littlewomen.com both specialise in bras for littler sizes

atticusfinchatemybaby · 07/04/2015 21:51

wow - thanks for all the suggestions - I wish I'd posted on here before wasting an afternoon searching fruitlessly online. Just checked JL and indeed you're right, they do have 28 a /b, but I'll also look at the other suggested sites. I can't believe I've spent this long thinking I was deformed because I couldn't fill an AA cup but that's because my mum kept telling me I was a 36 band (?!).

OP posts:
atticusfinchatemybaby · 07/04/2015 22:51

What i don't understand is why if you measure 28" you're told to add on 4", so you come out as a 32" band? Now some people have told me just to look for a 28" band instead, which seems to make more sense but even the bra websites still have instructions about adding on the extra inches. I'm so confused. ..

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 07/04/2015 22:54

Also try Boux Avenue - their bras are lovely and some styles go down to 28" but you may get away with 30"s on the tightest clasp

PinkElephants79 · 07/04/2015 23:47

Just a second vote for Mimi Holliday - they're gorgeous and there have been loads in my local TK Maxx recently. Have also found them fairly cheaply new on eBay

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/04/2015 11:56

Basically it used to be necessary to add inches, when bras were made from different fabrics which didn't stretch/stretch as much. Now it's not necessary but a lot of shops refuse to adapt their measuring approach as the plus 4 method fits better with the range of sizes they sell. If M&S started not adding inches there would be significant numbers of women sized out who aren't using their old approach

the more up to date/better websites don't recommend adding inches.
