Dungarees

So these are in fashion now. Denim dungarees. I've seen them everywhere: Zara h&m topshop etc. it's also all over Pinterest.

I've bought one. It's black. I think I may be having an early mid life crisis (am 34). DH says he will not walk next to me on the street wearing one as I will look a total div.

I'm a size 10-12 and 5'3. Also 10 weeks pregnant. I have visions of myself looking effortlessly cool with some leopard sneakers, a Breton top underneath and a cute baby bump.

Like I said...am I losing it?

DD looks fab in hers. But she is 12

CaTsMaMmA · 04/04/2015 22:11

Are you a pre teen? (or at a push a kookie student type)
Or Felicity kendall?
Or stuck inthe 1970s?

????

Unless the answer to any of those is yes then send those dungarees back, people will laugh and point at you.

HexagonAlley · 04/04/2015 22:12

Oh god! Blush

I was sort of hoping for this kind of look!

Erm, well, I think Pinterest looks lovely, but I am not sure it would translate well into real life if I'm honest Smile

BillStickersIsInnocent · 05/04/2015 07:14

Do it. I think they can look great - saw a RL person wearing them the other day and she looked really cool.

Also you're pregnant, perfect time to wear them surely? People won't point and laugh at a pg person.

herecomesthsun · 05/04/2015 07:44

I have a lovely colleague about 50 who is totally rocking black ones. Go for it!

herecomesthsun · 05/04/2015 07:45

I can see a problem though with being pregnant and wanting to pee all the time.

SweetAndFullOfGrace · 05/04/2015 07:50

I'm not convinced. Over an early pregnancy bump I think they'll make you look like you ate all the pies.

gingerbreadmam · 05/04/2015 07:59

im 12 weeks tomo and 30 and it has already crossed my mind i might fancy some dungaree shorts for summer Grin

not tried any and have no clue if they'll look ridiculous or not. i have visions of a woman from a tv programme called marchlands on a few years ago who wore them through pregnancy and they jst seemed a good pregnancy wear, tbf i think that era was set in the 70's or 80's tho Blush

50ShadesOfSummer · 05/04/2015 08:24

Have you tried them on? Did you like them? I think they can look good.

And tell DH not to be unreasonable. He should be grateful to be seen near such a fashionable woman! Grin

meditrina · 05/04/2015 08:48

PG dungarees are more bump-friendly if they don't have a 'waist' (like the ones pictured). Because of seam rubbing against expanded bodies.

Also, there would be little wear in the ones pictured, even with adjustable straps, as they look far too snug over even an early bump.

Even if you go for the PG friendly cut (not that one), check torso length. As even maternity ones can end up cutting your crotch in half as you grow and the bump steals the fabric. Start baggy.

lavendersun · 05/04/2015 09:02

Not PG but I will be wearing them in the summer - I love them and am so pleased that they are back ..... along with my new found clogs.

TelephoneEggGnawingMachine · 05/04/2015 09:14

Well I like them and I'm not pregnant. But, I'm not one for following the latest fashion trends. I asked DH what he'd think if I got some dungarees, & he said "what for the gardening?" I may have thrown a cushion a him and called him a cheeky turd

KiaOraOAotearoa · 05/04/2015 09:17

They weren't in fashion when I was pregnant many moons ago, I looked everywhere-I would have killed for a pair! They're so so so incredibly comfy!
I say go for it!

HexagonAlley · 05/04/2015 11:26

Oooh lots of positive replies this morning. Hurrah!

Actually I don't think they will work for pregnancy. A Pp is right in that I don't think they will have any give in them. I ordered them online and they haven't arrived yet so not sure of fit

I can't find any pregnancy ones anywhere...at least not non frumpy ones

HexagonAlley · 05/04/2015 12:27

Anyone see any nice pregnancy ones?

Greengardenpixie · 05/04/2015 14:00

ive worn mine and noone pointed and laughed. I think they look great. I have the topshop ones. So flattering.

Greengardenpixie · 05/04/2015 14:02

oh and im on the wrong side of forty! and most definely not pregnant!
I did have a baby at 43 though and i had a pair out of mothercare.

Judydreamsofhorses · 05/04/2015 17:44

I bought the black Whistles ones with the 25% off code Grazia had last month. They are super-flattering and v comfy - although my partner does hate them. (I'm not pregnant either.)

amarmai · 05/04/2015 22:02

also you can wear a top on top instead of underneath if you prefer.
