I'm getting married in about a month and it's been suggested that I get my eyebrows threaded (and possibly other parts of my face although this wasn't specifically suggested). They are quite wild and fast growing, I have to pluck at least every other day, although probably not the same hairs. How far ahead should I get them done. If you have quite fast growing eyebrows how long will it last?

My brows are wild ish too.... I get them threaded once a month but could easily go every couple of weeks.
I would get them done now and tell them to go easy. You don't want to look too surprised for your wedding day. Then closer to the actual date, if they do a good job first time round.
Also once you have got the shape then you can just follow the line. I do this when I don't have time for an appointment.

Mine normally look great for a week, ok for two weeks and definitely need doing after three weeks. I have quite thick dark brows. So I'd probably get it done as close to your big day as you can so they look at their best.

One thing I would say though is that there are lots and lots of places that now offer threading and I've been to a couple that have really messed up the shape and has taken ages to grow back. So ask around your local area if anyone knows someone who is good. If you're anywhere near a Blink brow bar I've been to lots of different ones and they have always done a great job.

I would definately have it done a few days before could just be my skin but I do notice that i'm a bit red for a day or so afterwards, although it never used to be a problem so thinking I might need to try a new place.

Kennington is probably right though get it done now and then have another quick tidy up done before the big day

Trial run now, redo about 3 days pre-wedding. Go somewhere that's been recommended if possible. Don't have crisis if/when they ask if you want your moustache doing - it's how they make their living!

I have unruly brows, if I get them waxed I need them doing every 4 weeks, with threading I can go 6 weeks. I prefer it because threading thins the middle of the brows but waxing only does the outside. I agree, I'd get them done now so you decide if you like the shape ahead of time.

RL20 · 04/04/2015 21:14

My brows grow pretty fast and I have been happy with both waxing and threading. I agree with another poster that there are lots of places that now offer threading, so ask around for recommendations etc, and that goes with the waxing too.
If I wanted them to look the same all the time I would probably need them doing every 2-3 weeks

yomellamoHelly · 05/04/2015 09:18

Would get them done about 3 weeks ahead of day and again day before or a couple of days before. (First time I had them done my skin looked sore for ages afterwards. Second time effect much shorter term.) Second the need to go to a decent place if this is for your wedding. (Had mine done badly last September and I've still got one spot that looks patchy.)

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/04/2015 11:56

I won't lie to you OP. It hurts like hell. Tears were literally coming to my eyes. Mind you I'm a wimp.
The results are worth it though, but I'm going to stick to waxing

snowaccidentprone · 05/04/2015 12:14

Yes, it kind of stings, makes my eyes water, and makes me sneeze.

But it doesn't take long, and they look great afterwards.

As most posters have said, get it done now, the tidied up again 2-3 days before your wedding.

Discuss with your threader what shape/look you want. And remember, you can always have a few more hairs taken off, but once they've gone, that's it.

I've been to the same threader for the last 4 years. She's normally great, but last time she took a few too many hairs from the middle, meaning my brows are a bit shorter than I usually have. I'm currently re growing them, but this is a slow process.

I have my eyelashes tinted at the same appointment.

Littlebigcat · 05/04/2015 22:45

Thank you for all the advice. I will try and get them done this week sometime I think and again in the few days before. I have had a recommendation of somewhere local, but failing that there are blink brow bars close to me. Hoping it doesn't hurt too much, plucking stopped hurting years ago but I suspect this still will.
